Pendulum (The Battle Between You & You)

back and forth, to and fro

i can't take it, so here i go

out the door, away from you

but i can't take that either, i would miss you

torn between two different loves

the one that loves me and the one that doesn't

but to say either doesn't love me isn't really fair

i know that both of you do and that both of you care

the problem is that you're both in one head

i feel like i'm watching a fight and taking bets

on which one will give out and finally… Continue

Dusty Clogs for Peace and Nonviolence

This picture shows David & Liz (in the green waterproofs) handing the Cumbrian Miles to Silvia & Jon from the World March for Peace and Nonviolence (UK Base Camp Organisers) at the end of six days of Dusty Clogs.

I have just completed the most exhausting yet exhilarating week of my life. Dusty Clogs, based upon the Dusty Sneakers for Peace Programme in Canada, took off and assumed a life all of its own. Dusty Clogs was a… Continue

3 years & 4 months ago...

[Professor] Giovanni,

My name is George Cooley. I am a 22 year old alumnus of the College of Arts and Sciences (I majored in Economics). This past year I was teaching mathematics (geometry and trigonometry) at Orange County High School... when I started to see something in the numbers- my country is lying to me... I know nothing about writing or poetry, but I know I want to write and see as much of the world as I can. I have a message… Continue

Why Would Anyone Deny The Holocaust?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chose to commemorate Quds Day on Friday, September 18, by expressing his usual doubts as to whether the Holocaust really happened. He stated that the Holocaust was used as a false pretext for occupying Palestinian lands. And he is quoted as questioning, “If the Holocaust was a real event, why don’t they allow research on it to clear up the facts?”

To this last question, I would respectfully ask, “Who are ‘they,’ who are not allowing research to… Continue

Chronic form of poetry -----We are driven by the wind ...

Chronic form of poetry We are driven by the wind ... Clicia Pavan

"You can never know where

men the wind takes them, they have no roots

they do not like roots "

(Exupéry)

We are vulnerable and unstable as the wind.

We are eternal fugitive

Oscillate between wanting, between good and evil,

every day promised change

But the first wind of temptation

are torn from our purposes

Divided and… Continue

PRAYERS FOR BAT NHA

“If we want to end the war in the world, we need to end the war in our own hearts.”

I made this short film in support of Thich Nhat Hanh, and his sangha in Vietnam, who are in crisis right now. Please support them, and share this video widely.

Thich Nhat Hanh's monks and nuns of Bat Nha Monastery are facing religious persecution in Vietnam right now, from the communist government. Threatened by the rising popularity of Thich Nhat Hanh's form… Continue

LEST WE FORGET WHAT IT'S REALLY ALL ABOUT-REMEMBRANCE DAY

Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of…

Darkness and Despair

Darkness and Despair

By

Matthew Powell

Pain, despair, emptiness, loneliness;

When I am the most down, I feel these deep in my soul,

Though I know it can leave a hole.

Life goes on around me; no one can see deep inside.

Hope exists, and can sometimes light a fire within; other times,

Only the dead cold is found, in place of fire therein.

My life. I exist. I am self-aware. When that hole that can exist, there is lack of… Continue

Begging to differ

[Our actions to heal the world] are not broad mandates to eradicate poverty, end famine, or stop violence in war-torn countries... They are specific projects created to restore Hope in the lives of children and communities that have lost it. Spiritual Activism is active Compassion... from these Seeds, Change will grow.

This is the problem with spiritual activism. It seems to be restricted to practicing charitable acts in the name of compassion. "restoring hope" of… Continue

From Italy to California, USA

Going back. To where I cam from. To the sunshine, the earthquakes, the crime and coffee shops. To the huge streets, shopping malls, good music systems in stores, palm trees. To old friends, relatives, sales, long straight streets, quiet cars.

It's my old town. But not really. It never felt just right.

I don't know. I don't really belong - not there, nor here.

When you have been in a… Continue

You Have Choices

When I was still a kid, I always can we think best for ourselves. I always heard from my parent saying that life is always tough for them and working hard is a must for them in order to maintain current life style. Is that entirely true, and do we really have to work so hard just to get what we want? After growing up, the same thing happens to me as well as people around me. Then I ask myself another question, when the time we get what we think we want, is that really what we…

Heavenly Peace (1)

This is an attempt to connect dots; like a graphic puzzle, drawing a line from one number to the next an image appears.

ìt's about how something that happened on the other side of the world touched me and motivated me to write about something outside myself.

Even though apparently the goal was not reached in'89 a seed was planted - if it die...

This blog is also about how a plan (Ï want to be a musician") would open up…
