Palestinian Dr. Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish, whose three daughters were killed during Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip earlier this year, has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, Army Radio reported on Monday.
The nomination was announced by Belgium's state secretary, who described al-Aish to the Arabic-language daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat as a "soldier of peace." The doctor has been awarded honorary Belgian citizenship "in recognition of… Continue
TEL AVIV — Achinoam Nini, a singer and peace activist, has long stirred controversy here. Known abroad by her stage name, Noa, she has recorded with Arab artists, refused to perform in the occupied West Bank, condemned Israeli settlements there and had concerts canceled because of bomb threats from the extreme… Continue
Seeing Ari Folman's prize-winning film, 'Waltz with Bashir,' is having an unexpected therapeutic effect, not only on soldiers who served in the first Lebanon war - the film's subject - but also on those who fought on the Egyptian front, in the intifada, or in the Second Lebanon War.

This is a long post, but interesting and worth reading. What triggered it is a discussion posted a… Continue
The deaths that opened the hearts of many Israelis.
So many deaths in this bloody war between Israel and Hamas have been in vain. If anything can be a consolation to Dr. Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish at this unimaginable hard time, is the fact that the death of his 3 daughters opened a channel between Palestinian hearts to the mainstream Israeli hearts.
It happened last night, and the events were broadcasted live in prime… Continue
We appeal to the government of Israel to open the border-points with Gaza in order to allow for evacuation of children from the battle zone to a safe location, until they can be returned to their families with the cessation of hostilities.
Whether we agree or disagree with the aims of the present war, the fate of hundreds of thousands of endangered children is of utmost… Continue
Let me tell you a story. I went to visit my parents in Beer Sheva today. It takes about an hour to drive there. I got there at 12:45 pm. Said hi, kissed my parents and went to look what's cooking in my mom's pots.
Suddenly a siren started wailing. This has only one meaning for it these days for a million people in Israel. A missile is doing its way from Gaza in your direction. And you have to act fast.
There's a great deal of misunderstanding of the 100 years old Israeli Palestinian conflict. There's a great deal of disinformation about it in iPeace today. And there's a great deal of manipulation end exploitation of the situation, some of it very cynical.
Here's part of a message I and 45 others received yesterday:
"Israel is the attacker since centuries ago - Jews dont have a land and thats a fact. and they have made protocols and through them have prepared…Continue
iPeace prides itself on being a free space for sharing ideas, opinions and information.
But we have and uphold certain standards. We will not allow posting of explicit horror images of war. We don't need to see it to realize that war is horrific.
We understand also that emotions in these days are running high. But we will not tolerate personal attacks between members.
We ask you to help us in keeping the iPeace space civilized and report to… Continue
I case you were wondering how I am spending iPeace Day. I will drive now to Beer Sheva, my home town, to pick up my parents and bring them over to my house. My father is 87 and has difficulty walking, my mother is 78. There is just no possible way for them to get to a safe place in the 45 seconds which take a missle to get from Gaza to their house.
Since early this morning 5 Grad missiles fired by Hamas from Gaza hit my home town. One… Continue
These are dark days for peace lovers. But I refuse to give up hope for better days.
