MARY TRAVERS IS GONE LIKE THE FLOWERS NOW BUT SHE WON'T BE FORGOTTEN.

I was deeply saddened to read the news of Mary Travers passing in this article today. Peter Paul and Mary have been a large part of my life over the years and their songs are still sung around the campfires at our family reunions or on long car trips. They were huge supporters for peace throughout the sixties and seventies and their songs are still popular for demonstrators of every description. I have sung them along with others at…

ALOHA-NESS... ANOTHER WORD FOR PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP!

She was the embodiment of aloha-ness and her passing left behind a legacy that could promote peace and friendship throughout the world if only we have the eyes to see, the ears to listen and the heart and courage to pass it on.

Auntie Nona "Winona" Beamerwas a teacher, a dancer and a storyteller, but above all, she was a fervent guardian of Hawaiian culture.

At Kamehameha Schools, where Beamer taught for nearly 40…

ROSARY BEADS AND SENSIBLE SHOES... THE STORY OF ONE WOMAN'S SURVIVAL.

By Theresa Marino Leone

As told to her first cousin, Roy Peter Clark

Senior Scholar, Poynter Institute

I got to work about 20 minutes to 9. I told my boss I like to get to work a half hour early. But that'll never happen again. I work in Building One, or what used to be Building One. I work for Lawyers' Travel, and I'm attached to a law firm with offices on the 57th Floor.

I hadn't had breakfast yet, just a cup of…

LIST ALL THE GOOD THINGS

by: Sister Helen P. Mrosia - Source Unknown

He was in the first third grade class I taught at Saint Mary's School in Morris, Minn. All 34 of my students were dear to me, but Mark Eklund was one in a million. Very neat in appearance, but had that happy-to-be-alive attitude that made even his occasional mischievousness delightful.

Mark talked incessantly. I had to remind him again and again that talking without permission was…

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE-THE MIRACLE OF LOVE

THE MIRACLE OF LOVE

Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the way, she did what she could to help 3-year-old Michael to prepare for a new sibling. They found out that the new baby was going be a girl, and day after day, night after night, Michael sang to his sister in Mommy’s tummy. He was building a bond of love before he even met her.

The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen, an active…

KEEP YOUR FORK... THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things "in order," she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.

She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Everything was in…

NEVER GIVE UP..... THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE !

"The Story of the Four Candles"

Four Candles burned slowly. Their ambiance was so soft you could hear them speak.

The first candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit." Then Peace's flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

The second candle said, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable." Then Faith's flame slowly diminished and went out…

SONGS THAT TOUCH YOUR HEART

There are songs in this world that are so hauntingly beautiful that we are compelled to stop everything just to listen whenever we hear them. "Amazing Grace" and "Ave Maria" are two of my favorites in this category and "Celtic Woman's The Voice" is the third. I believe that music uplifts a man's (or a woman's) heart and touches his/her soul.... soothes and eases all heartache. . . at least for a short time.

Music is one of the…
