25 random things about me

This is something that we 'imported' from facebook.

1. Write a "25 random things about me" and post it as a blog.

3. We get to know each other better

We are almost 17000 and we come from 180 different countries and cultures. This can be exciting.

here's mine:

1. I used to have hair

2. There's someone thin living inside me

3. I lost about 1000 Kg during my life, and I gained about 100 Kg more

4. I don't throw old cloths that no longer fit – I tell them: "Wait, I am coming back"

5. I served in the army and hated it (but everyone does)

6. I was a really lousy student and was kicked out of school twice.

7. I got an MBA (and a really good one). I think that MBAs are useless

8. I used to trade bonds, stocks and other financial instruments when Wall Street was still fun

9. I retired 12 years ago

10. I lived in Israel, France, USA, UK and Japan (I am a sushi snob)

11. I visited about 60 other countries

12. I am dying to go to Tibet (but I don't think that I'm very welcome there at the moment)

13. My best friend is Eli Sachs and we've been friends for 40 years

14. I have 2 sons, Joel and Jono, and I love them more with every day that passes – They must have great genes.

15. I love myself, and feel sorry for people who don't love themselves.

16. I love golf and I used to be the only golf writer in Israel

17. I love music but I can't sing and I can't play any instrument which is killing me

18. I am a borderline autistic with a slight dyslexia and certified ADD

19. I live by myself (and I'm loving it)

20. I never felt loneliness, but I know that there aren't many worse feelings than being lonely.

21. I am more lucky than clever

22. I have addictive personality

23. I love cooking (and eating – you probably figured that out) I can eat Chinese food every day

24. I started iPeace and I love it

25. I WILL see peace in my lifetime

26. I believe that FEAR is the root of all evil

I have about 100 more..but my dream about peace is this:

I can tell you about the first things that come to my mind when I close my eyes and think of peace. I see no more wars. I see a time when my grandchildren don't have to spend 3 years of their lives in the army. I see equality and respect between peoples and nations. I see my Arab friends come to visit me at home, I see us going to the beach together. I see myself hanging out with my Lebanese friends in Beirut. But most of all, I see myself being able to get in the car with my dad (who is 87 years old) and 2 sons, and drive to Baghdad, Iraq, through Jordan or Syria. In Baghdad he takes us to the house he was born in, and to all the places he told us so many stories about. There, we close a circle.
These dreams might sound trivial to many, but these simple acts have been denied of so many people in the Middle East.

Goldman, Sachs & Co 76-86, although, that WAS my education, lol :) I have never lived in the Middle East, but have such an affinity for those who do. Is it growing up in NYC? We have much in common, you and I, mostly the dream of peace in our lifetime and the knowledge that we will see it. Bright Blessings.

Comment by Laurie F. Schwartz on February 17, 2009 at 11:28am: It is 4 am in USA. I am finishing up a two year training with 18 other therapists.. in peri-natal psychology. We are all in the process of recovering peace.. as a biological birthright.. which would include the world of sensation within our bodies.. emotional resiliency.. spiritual awareness and mental ability to share thoughts and feelings that are embodied.. with others. We have all discovered that the IMPRINTS which we carry from our ancestors and from our birth process as well as the cultural distortions to create.. places where we project onto one another. Even in a conscious group of adults.. people who pray and work and live with a mindfulness practice.. the process of coming into alignment and resonance that is both peaceful and authentic and enables each person to have their authentic feelings and needs.. is a challenge. Surely.. this planet needs peace badly.. and so it seems that we have been in this dance of peace and war for thousands of years.. Now we do have the internet and we are more of a global village.. so we don't have the isolation and are secrets can be shared and exposed.
We need peace desperately. I did join teh Peace Corps from 1975-1978 because I grew up in a family with alot of turmoil and trauma. the effects of the Holocaust.. and Mental Illness.. as well as alcohol and drug addiction were all around me from my birth.
I still advocate for peace.. but a peace that is grounded in authenticity and trust.. with truth and love as a foundation.. I do not enjoy peace that is just on a persona level.. and I also do appreciate the ability to dance with others.. in peace .. from all cultures.. on the surface and also in more depth when possible.
The earth is sacred.. and we all need to move away from Scared into Sacred spaces.

Some random thing about me---
My grandpa was a pharmuecist and insisted that there was a drug -pill for every problem.
I was born on an Army base where they were teaching youth to find an enemy and how to shoot them. The practice firing range was right outside the hospital.
I was taught in the military to take orders from outside or else.
I was taught that women were to love , honor and OBEY the man--- that the WOMEN were only alive to take care of the military men, babies, house and cook.
I was taught that to be happy -- YOU DRINK--- AT HAPPY HOUR EVERY DAY----
I was taught that when you to to church you were to worship Jesus ( a Man) or the local preachers -- who were also mostly men!
INSANE---INSANE---INSANE---
THANK HEAVEN'S WE ARE FINALLY EVOLVING AS --HUMAN BEINGS -- with a Soul matrix that is intergalactic wisdom and will help heal and unite --- each person to their own higher LOVE AND LIGHT intelligence--- to shift the old warring paradimgs on this planet.... create new GOVT jobs that focus on higher soul power connections for the SOUL-UTION LEVEL (INNER DIVINE GUIDANCE) AND CHAKRA OPENINGS TO bring heaven to earth.
The Soul matrix is real and waiting for people to HELP CREATE NEW GOVT. You never came to Brazil, I think you`d love it. It goes with your spirit. I`m from Brasilia, the capital, we have people from many places, it`s nice for me. I`m someone who loves to learn, I feel I`ll be like this for still long time. I use to be prof in peace education, in Unipaz.

You take care and enjoy living your life - your yearning for peace will continue for a while yet as there is too much greed and hankering after power in our world. There is still a great deal of work to be done to get everyone on board. To gain peace there must be reconciliation and that is a long a very painful process but it is worth all the effort.
