Halloween, or "All Hallows Eve" and All Saints Day on November 1 is really a time to remember those who have gone before us. Today I am thankful and pay homage for the lives of some beautiful people in the public eye who have left us this year:
I am Thankful to Sir Edmund Hillary, for his courage to climb Mt Everest and his humanitarian work with the Sherpas.
I am thankful to Heath Ledger, who left us just as he was starting flight, for Brokeback Mountain
I am thankful to Bo Diddley, for his ground-breaking work in transitioning from blues to rock-n-roll and the wonderful musical legacy he left to us.
I am thankful to Roy Scheider, for Sherriff Brody in Jaws
I thank Tim Russert, for making politics easier to understand, and for his great personality
Thanks to Charlton Heston, for Ben Hur
and the Ten Commandments
and Planet of the Apes
I fondly remember George Carlin, for his famous “list”, and for his hilarious facial expressions
I thank and honour Paul Newman, for those beautiful blue eyes, for all his wonderful films, for the Scott Newman Center and his humanitarian work with “Newman’s Own” foods.
Thank you Sydney Pollack, for The Way We Were
and my all time favorite film, Out of Africa
Thanks Isaac Hayes, for your musical legacy and work for Education in Ghana
