[Our actions to heal the world] are not broad mandates to eradicate poverty, end famine, or stop violence in war-torn countries... They are specific projects created to restore Hope in the lives of children and communities that have lost it. Spiritual Activism is active Compassion... from these Seeds, Change will grow.

This is the problem with spiritual activism. It seems to be restricted to practicing charitable acts in the name of compassion. "restoring hope" of what? Hope that charity on which they depend will never run out?

I used to be angry at hearing this philosophy of complacency that caters to those on a desperate search for feel-good factors. Now I am sad and reduced to praying for some miracle that can Enlighten the enlightened.

One chary boasts that they teach to hungry to fish so that they never go hungry again:
Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day; teach him to fish and he will feed himself for the rest of his life
.
So far, so good. And here ignorance of the importance of economics shows up. If someone else claims ownership over the lake or the river, our man can --- at best --- feed himself only if he works for, or pays rent to, the "owner".

So another price of peace is sharing equitably the riches of our earth among the nearly seven billion of us. And that is a necessary (but possible) "broad mandate to eradicate poverty".
