I just took a walk by the river, my beautiful tidal river friend and teacher. It was my Beltane walk, noticing and celebrating the birth of early summer, here in the North. It was warm and sunny, a clear evening after rain. I saw some hawthorn blossum open, beautiful white flowers, surrounded by bright fresh green leaves. I smelt some blossum that was like honey, dangling in long pendrils from one tree. There was a duck sitting on eggs, patiently ... she's been there about three weeks now - does anyone know how long these things take? I saw the heron take flight from his stone in the centre of the river, and fly with wide wings. I saw fish jumping. I felt, and feel, an opening, in the land around me and in my heart. A soft persistent power, life force, love force, great strength that came shining through. Beauty and fertility and joy and creativity. It's a precious precious moment. May it bless us all.
Beltane love,
Bryony x
