Cheney Ganging

dick cheney seriously needs to zip his lip, cut the crap, and go crawl back under a rock. first he was angry because intelligence documents were released. now he's angry because he wants more of them released. i so do not miss the days of the bush/cheney baloney.

anyhow, the documents were released in the first place because they were compelled in a lawsuit involving videotapes of two individuals being tortured by waterboarding, videotapes which bush/cheney had destroyed. don't forget that part, it's important and the talking heads always seem to find a way to leave that out.

this country has never and should never condone torture as a tactic, a strategy in a dangerous world. did you know that during wwII some americans were taken hostage and then tortured by waterboarding by their japanese captors? we hunted them down and executed them for it . our country has maintained throughout history that we not only would not condone the torture of our citizens, we would never engage in the torture of others. sure, the world changes, but you know what? there are some things that should never become acceptable.

at first cheney said obama should have fought to keep the memos private. he had a mile long list of reasons why obama was wrong for refusing to waste time, money, energy, defending the indefensible. now he's angry that even more documents haven't been released. he claims people would then see how effective the torture was. yes. he really said that. apparently, it's supposed to matter.

dick cheney is a scary dude, and while bush wasn't a stellar president, i sure am glad he never had to hand the reigns over to this wackjob. i wonder how he reconciles his great religion with the idea that it's perfectly acceptable to brutalize a living human being to within milimeters of his life. i would almost swear he's on record as deeming michael vick the devil incarnate for brutalizing animals in his dog fighting ring. if the memory is serving correctly, and it's totally possible it's not, the irony is just.......sick.

i cannot be the only one who is of the opinion that america is not the greatest country in the world just because cheney or anyone else says so. i believe america is only the greatest country in the world when americans act like it. condoning torture is not acting like it. condoning torture is jumping in the gutter with the other heathens who condone torture. remember the addage "you are who you hang around, you are what you do?" hello? holy cow.
