End of the Mayan Calendar-Beginning of the New Era:
Celebration of All Cultures
December 1st -30th , 2012
Brief Progress Report #1

Howdy Folks
As of February 3rd, 2009 and less than one week into this great events’ announcement the following is some of the progress which has been made via projects now in progress:
(1) We are in the process of putting together a Website for this event and when that is up and running it will be the primary point for focalizing all efforts involved towards creating this once in An Era event.
Folks wishing to participate in this effort and who are skilled in the task at hand are ask to volunteer as parts of this projects’ efforts. It will be called: The Website Council.

(2) A poster is in progress and will soon be available for circulation around the world via each of our networks. This Poster is specific to the main event in Palenque and we would encourage graphic artists in each region to create posters for their regions/cultures events in conjunction with the main event.

(3) We have folks on the ground in Palenque and at least one farm available (and another probable) for events and camping for those immediately involved in establishing good relations/goodwill with all local peoples so that we have their support and input.
The lands volunteered for this purpose will also be available for actual events during the End of the Mayan Calendar-Beginning of the New Era: Celebration and must be respected & taken care of each step of the way.
Part of this will be to insure that local businesses, hotels, campgrounds, restaurants and various services are aware and prepared for the great influx of people who will be attending. Because of the great number of folks who we can expect, that would extend out to other towns in the immediate area and larger cities which are the supply/commerce centers for the region.
Additionally, the Site Council will be responsible for obtaining permissions for the use of the Sacred Ruins of Palenque itself. They are a Historical National Park and part of the U.N./UNESCO Patrimony of Humanity program. All uses of that part of the overall site must be done with the greatest of respect and not contribute in any way towards degrading its’ historical aspects or the natural environment in and around the area.
It would be suggested that we establish a Council specific to dealing with any uses we may need and that such Council be primarily made up of knowledgeable & skilled archeologists. This would be called: The Sacred Ruins Council and be responsible to insure proper uses. It would further be encouraged to have our expert volunteers and their assistants offer to work with I.N.A.H, the federal agency in charge of all historical aspects of Mexican Culture, towards assisting with any restoration projects they may have on the site.

(4) We need and have started an effort to form a Council to focalize the focalizers for each aspect of this endeavor.
This will be: The Focalizers Council and be responsible for insuring that all aspects are coordinated. By its’ very nature it must include representatives from each hands-on project involved, including focalizers from around the world who will be raising awareness, organizing group discount travel for folks who wish to attend the primary event in Palenque and focalizing regional/cultural events in the homelands of each culture.

(5) Each facets volunteer focalizers must be self motivated and skilled in organizing various aspects of events & projects.
Until we have our Website proper for this event, each focalizer should announce their efforts on and seek volunteers to form Councils in order to facilitate them via our Facebook Event Group. Post them in the Message space until a Council of 3 or more has determined and focused the group councils’ purpose and written a presentation on it, which should then be posted in Topics Section on the group page.

(6) As of noon, Feb. 3rd, 2009, 6 days into this effort we have:
306 Confirmed Attendees
329 Maybe Attending
476 Not Attending
And are awaiting 1,680 relies from folks who have so far been invited and not replied
(all folks are ask to continue inviting your friends and requested to forward the invitation on to your other networks of friends & groups outside of Facebook).
The responses thus far have been extraordinary with the greater majority of those invited having confirmed or whom are seriously considering attending. Roughly 3/5th s of those invited who have responded.

(7) Various volunteers from around the world have offered to pitch in and do various things to help such as translations, organized events for their regions, etc.
A note to those translating:
It would be very helpful if each would volunteer to send their translations to individuals, groups and networks which share your common languages and encourage or focalize Regional/Cultural Councils towards the needs of both the Palenque event and events to happen in each groups’ homelands. Please send us the translations for needs which we have towards outreach efforts as well. Send to: rainbow_gathering@yahoo.com until our website is up and running in order to handle that need.

(8) Because we are experiencing some problems with Facebook accessibility as they appear to have some bugs to work out, we request that personal communications come directly to our Yahoo.com address so that they may be responded too in proper order.
With Facebook sometimes down for hours our backlog of communications becomes ever greater. We are now receiving 200-400 communications a day and simply cannot cover many-most which are now routed through Facebook due to their programs accessibility problems. They will, of course, all be covered as time and accessibility allow, but if your message requires prompt replies use our Yahoo address.

(9) I, Rainbow Hawk, will personally insure that all information available will be sent out frequently so that everybody is kept well informed. That will naturally be dependent upon each Council keeping my informed, at least monthly, of what they each are doing in tangible ways towards fulfilling their Councils’ objectives and the successes which they are having.
In conclusion it must also be clearly stated that all who are confirmed and maybe attendees are essentially members of the General Council of the End of the Mayan Calendar-Beginning of the New Era and as such are more than welcomed to voice any ideas or concerns that are topic related towards the achievement of co-creating this incredible, once in An Era event.
Welcome Home
Walk in Peace
