((after Bush administration started many wars))??

Did you really say many? Two is too many, but its not the 'many' you seem to think. It was two wars.

All we can do is pray.

The new savior? Oh I doubt that. But his smooth ways and charisma has lots of folks thinking that way. What a rude awaking some have.

He is spending money like its water. He flies to New York for a date spending hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Misses and their kids go to Paris to buy clothing...and people are starving here. He should be ashamed.

He is the only president in history that apologizes for the Americans being selfish?? This shows weakness.

He refuses to show birth certificates or any paperwork we ask for. His brother lives in a tent and his aunt is here illegally.
All the promises he gave I don't for see as happening. Some of the things he trashed McCain for, he is now doing. He is one smooth talker and that's about all I can see happening.

He has unwittingly (or was it on purpose) divided the world into Muslim World and Non Muslim world.
He honors the progress of gay, lesbian, bi-sexuals and same gender marriages. He has declared June as Gay month. Can a president declare that?

Yes, he is a brilliant speaker when the TelePrompTer works. But, his choice in friends has me scared to death.

I see politics as usual.

All we can do is pray.

As i said in my profile, i want peace in Milenium III (in latin sorry) , 3st Thousand, 21st Century. About Obama speech, i think it’s hard for him to talk about the collaboration and the human rights after Bush administration started many wars, of course in some cases had reason. Of course i am not agree with wars which have reasons the different religions, all of us have a place on Earth. But i think that if some countries will be continue to produce weapons, these weapons will be dangerous if they will use it, better stopped to produce...I am thinking about nuclear weapons in The Second War used in Japan, after alQaida with new technology in USA. At the same time, cause i am leaving in Romania, i know what means our geographical position near Russia and to belong to NATO against Irak too. About nuclear weapons produced in Iran, i hope they just try to protect their natural resources but no to resort to war. I hope they have the experience from Irak where many people are dying and solders too. Finally, i think Obama have courage and, my God, i hope his name will not be an airport name like JFK. or others presidents in the world.

I was wondering why there aren't more comments here on Obama's speech. Is it that people are not sure what to make of this man? We all want peace in the world very much but when it comes to politics, well, we have all heard the rhetoric before, and history shows leaders have never failed to fail us. It's just that Obama is very eloquent with the rhetoric and reads those teleprompters with such expertise. He is so smooth, maybe too smooth.
{In rhetoric, a rhetorical device or resource of language is a technique that an author or speaker uses to evoke an emotional response in the audience (the reader(s) or listener(s)). These emotional responses are central to the meaning of the work or speech, and should also get the audience's attention.}
Actions always speak louder than words. PEACE can begin with discussion , but it can't be autocratically dictated.
Is he the new saviour? Will he bring PEACE on a global scale to our war-torn planet? Will his supporting abortion bring PEACE? What happened to his enthusiasm for bringing home the troops from Iraq within 18 months? ... sending more troops to Pakistan along with millions of $ to support their army. WAR is not the answer, never was. Trillions of dollars have vanished since he came into office, the USA children and theirs and theirs ad infinitum will be paying it back forever... questions... questions ... PEACE is only found within YOU. Don't depend on hollow promises from those who are entrenched in political and material consciousness. OM TAT SAT

I think Obama brings the voice of reason and I think he is trying to see the bigger picture - peace for all. Without such a vision, without drawing a line and starting from a place of forgiveness instead of a place of blame, then the peace I wish to see is not possible. If we keep doing the same old thing we just get more of the same. I think he is trying to help us find a way forward, and I bless him for that.

President Obama has oratory skill and knowledge - I think he has good intentions - and he strives for peace.
But in his very first address in one of the Islamic States he has unwittingly or otherwise divided the world into Muslim World and Non Muslim world.
The concept of world peace is based on equality for all religions. By calling and addressing the people who follow the faith of Islam as Muslim world - amounts to dividing the entire world in to Muslim and non Muslim section.
In other world he has created a segregation in all countries - whereever there are Muslim population - a sort of partition - a separate world in every country where muslims reside. He has fanned the flame of separate Nations within Nations.

Here I have a question to ask Mr. Barack Obama,.. Would he call the Hindu World while addressing people of India or while addressing people of Thailand would he call them Buddist world? He will not - because he knows he will not get the same cheer and applause that he received in Cairo.
I am quite sure Mr. Obama is aware of the fact that Fundamentalist Muslims do not recognise any other religion and they do not accept that any other faith can remain on this planet. The reality is, there are no other real Muslim than the fundamentalist Muslims. Becasue other moderate Muslims have to be subservient to Fundamentalist muslims or become a fundamentalist .
I am also sure that Mr. Obama would have read these veses from Quran and understood them well

- Qur'an 2:193: "Fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief) and religion is only for Allah. But if they cease /desist, let there be no hostility except against infidel disbelievers."

-Tabari VI:138 : "Those present at the oath of Aqabah had sworn an allegiance to Muhammad. It was a pledge of war against all men. Allah had permitted fighting."
-Qur'an 8:65 "O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding."

- Ishaq 324 "He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.'"
-Qur'an 8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah."
-Qur'an 8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."
-Qur'an 9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."

What Pakistan started some years back as Organisation of Islamic Countries mainly with the purpose of dividing the countries has now ben ratified by Mr. Barack Obama.I can only pray that God ( othere than Allah ) saves this world

Dear Ali,

I can understand your anger, God knows why, but I can empathize. However, I am sure you would feel a lot better and do a lot more for the realization of your dreams, if you could be thankful for what is happening in U.S. politics. I am sure you feel it is not nearly enough, but doesn't it give you some hope? You can volunteer to help, and be understood, there is something to be built upon. It is like a seed which is thrown into the ground, with some water it will grow, if you step on it because it is so small, it doesn´t have a chance. I hope and pray you can feel the hope which President Obama brings, he cannot do it all, and he is not omnipowerful, without the people of the world's help, he will surely fail, and that is not what you want is it? With all my love, Anne

Thanks for the text. Its a work in progress to be sure. The objections and observations of Ali Abunimah contain validity and cannot be dismissed. The American president is not a magic pill. He is the best that could be hoped for "within the system" - a very important distinction. He will not make the changes that are needed on his own, he comes from within the power structure. The carefully included phrases about 9-11, al quaida, Isreal's justification, globalization, etc., are what allowed a man who speaks out against nuclear weapons to step into the office in a country of sleep-walkers who are led by the media. He is only holding the door. We must lock arms and walk through!

What Obama DOES do is he gives us a chance to create our own destiny. It is not possible for a leader to can speak truth to power. That is our job. Go sign the petition at www.avaas.org supporting his statement insistence on stopping the settlements. Call the Presidents comment line. (202-456-1111) Maybe he will listen!

I love Obama, and his speach came from a reall meaning to get closer and be friend with muslim, but
