On history, media, social learning, culture, peace, development and... us...
Perhaps the biggest obstacle for peace is the history of war and violence; and the teaching/promotion of violence through media. 'Histories of Peace, Love and Harmony' may need to be written and studied in schools and universities. And we, humans, need to deal with violence in films, games, and throughout the media. We need to greatly reduce it. As it is right now, this "teaches" and promotes violence. Do we want this?
More documentaries and films, widely distributed, focusing on peace, friendship, beauty, harmony, Life, love, happiness, joy, bliss, sharing, benevolence, collaboration, compassion, respect, tolerance, celebration of diversity, responsibility, awareness, consciousness, spirituality, interconnectedness, nature & environment, and new models of equitable and sustainable development, to name just a few,
could help people change their emotions, thoughts, expectations and sense of what is possible and desirable; help them overcome fears and barriers, eventually resulting in better social interactions, social innovation, and better 'cultures' in our world.
Peace comes from inside out. If one learns violence through the media and in its close environment, one can not be peaceful. If one is stressed, angry, hateful, out of balance and in disharmony, one can not be a vehicle of peace...
By expanding awareness, becoming peaceful within ourselves, and encouraging better/healthier beliefs, values, and models of behaviour between people, groups, societies, religions, countries and cultures, we can create social and global peace.
And by celebrating Life and its multicultural diversity, fostering mutual understanding and respect, we could create, from inside out, a new culture of peace and harmony; and a more balanced, coherent, collaborative, inclusive, ethical and equitable development, for the benefit of all.
Let's help make it happen! Will we? Will you?
