“It takes a village to raise a child.”
~ African Proverb
But it takes an entire world to help restore Hope and Heal the Hearts of displaced children.
Uganda is a country torn by war, where a significant portion of the community, estimated at 40-50%, still live in extreme poverty with an estimated per capita income of $250/300 USD. About 30-40% of children under five years of age are underweight. The high levels of malnutrition are a result of a decline in per capita food consumption and an overdependence on banana as the main food source.
The displaced Children of War are regarded as creatures of no hope and are known as “the dying generation”.
They deserve Hope. They deserve a future with Dignity. They deserve Healing.
The Humanity Healing Foundation is working in association with Compassion for Children to give these children back their Hope for a better life.
The object of this project is to provide Vocational and Educational Rehabilitation to many children and to be a means of income generation for ongoing support and sustainability. Complimenting the educational programs of the existing Victory Schools, the Humanity Healing Foundation is undertaking the construction maintenance of a Chicken and Egg Production Facility and Community Garden Farm.
The main idea behind this Outreach is not a cure for AIDS, nor will it eradicate extreme poverty, neither will it transform these children’s situation overnight. What it will accomplish is to offer the children we are assisting:
1. A supplemental income for medical and school fees
2. A supplemental diet for improved nutrition
3. The possibility to build an education on self-sustainability
4. Empowerment and self-reliance
5. Bring back Hope for the future
This Project will generate a positive impact on the social, economic, psychological and vocational aspects of the children’s lives. It represents the ultimate possibility: to Heal and to belong to the fabric of society again.
And no longer be vulnerable, displaced or unwanted…
