Hi all,

Last year we entered the iPeace idea as a candidate to Google's Project 10^100, a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.

Lately Google announced:

Last fall we launched Project 10^100, a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible. Your response was overwhelming. Thousands of people from more than 170 countries submitted more than 150,000 (or around 10^5.2) ideas, from general investment suggestions to specific implementation proposals. As we reviewed these submissions, we started noticing lots of similar ideas related to certain broad topics, and decided that combining the best aspects of these individual proposals would produce the most innovative approaches to solving some very pressing problems.
The result is the list you see below of 16 "big ideas," each inspired by numerous individual submissions. Which ones should we make happen? You tell us. Your vote for one of these ideas will help our advisory board choose up to 5 projects to fund, at which point we'll launch an RFP process to identify the organization(s) that are best suited to implementing them.
Thank you to everyone who has chosen to lend your energy to Project 10^100. Your idealism will inspire our own efforts to make these world-changing ideas a reality. So please cast your vote, and help us take this next step toward building a better world.

Please click this link to review the 16 big ideas and vote.

I am going to cast my vote in favor of :
Create genocide monitoring and alert system

Community

Build and refine tools capable of disseminating genocide-related mapping and related information in order to save lives. Much of the necessary technology and data-gathering methodology already exists both for general crisis mapping and for early warning systems capable of preventing mass atrocities. A key remaining step is to make this data more widely available to strengthen international aid agency coordination, improve resource allocation, develop timely policy and help evaluate current humanitarian practices.

Please take a few moment to review the ideas and vote.

Love

David

There is an idea that was not in the mix that has had my attention ever since I heard about the study...

Washington D.C. Crime Reduction Study Published

A study on the results of the Washington DC Crime Reduction project has been published in the June 1999 issue of the peer-reviewed journal Social Indicators Research. This article reports on one of the most dramatic sociological experiments ever undertaken.

The demonstration project involved assembling in the D.C. area nearly 4,000 practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs from 81 countries. The experiment was rigorously analyzed by a 27-member project review board composed of independent scientists and civic leaders who approved the research protocol and monitored the research process. Researchers predicted in advance that the calming influence of group meditation practice could reduce violent crime by over 20 percent in Washington, D.C., during an 8-week period in the summer of 1993.

In fact, the findings later showed that the rate of violent crime decreased by 23 percent during the June 7 to July 30 experimental period. The odds of this result occurring by chance are less than 2 in 1 billion. Rigorous statistical analyses ruled out an extensive list of alternative explanations, according to John Hagelin, lead author of the study and director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

The predictions were lodged in advance with a panel of prominent social scientists and civic leaders, including members of the District city council and metropolitan police force. Statistical analysis considered the effect of weather variables, daylight, police patrolling, historical crime trends and annual patterns in the District of Columbia, as well as trends in neighbouring cities.

Comments on the Study

Anne Hughes, a professor of sociology and government at the University of the District of Columbia and a member of the project review board, feels that the findings of the study have significant implications for resolving inner city violence. "What we are looking at here is a new paradigm of viewing crime and violence. I would like to recommend that this new model, which is supported by a number of exhaustive and very carefully controlled studies, be seriously considered, and that we think about ways that it might be implemented in the inner city."

David Edwards, another member of the project review board, and professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin, believes this research and the theory behind it deserve the most serious consideration. "I think the claim can be plausibly made that the potential impact of this research exceeds that of any other ongoing social or psychological research program. It has survived a broader array of statistical tests than most research in the field of conflict resolution. This work and the theory that informs it deserve the most serious consideration by academics and policy makers alike,"

There are many like Gregg Braden who are on point with this understanding, and are focused on its expanding use worldwide. James Twyman, the author of Emissary of Light, actually met the group that was interceding on behalf of the planet during his time on the Croatia/Bosnia border during Serb uprisings. These 12 plus 1 meditated 12 hours per day as a way to intercede on behalf of a whole planet of people who had yet to discover this very potent and inherent ability we all have. They have since left because they began to see that there were and are many who are realizing this, so my idea would be for a continued organized push for a growing understanding of our divine capabilities going unused. This would also assist all NGO's and the like with the ongoing very important work they are doing. This would be a win win win situation, and will be soon I believe... Love/Light, and Peace with All My Heart, for we are One, Chris

More than knowing wich is the idea that wins, the fact that there are so many great people, ideas and projects working for the oneness is what makes this contest worth on it self. I am so happy we are part of this global awakening.

Thank you David, your favourite idea would have been mine too. I have been fighting for this and the marginalized and down trodden people through out the world for a very long time. David, i must take this opportunity to thank you for this great humanitarian project of your's, Gordon's and the other members who joined you at the inception. Every single thought of peace has a tremendous effect against the negative thought waves, as everyone here is extremely sincere and truly committed in bringing about a change, to make this world a better place to live in. Thank you and God bless you

I voted for making educational materials available online for free!

Personally I feel this would help the most people and in the best way. I have always thought that anyone who has the ability and desire to get a Ph.D., or any education they want, should be able to get one free of charge. Perhaps this is a start.

The deregulated corporate, chemical, biological, military dictatorship that OWNS America, needs cheap raw materials and cheap slave labor in order to construct a financial system that takes the people's labor, money and Lives. The sources of raw materials, governments and factories they construct overseas, using our money, need to be defended by military bases and obedient local dictators. To prevent the people of countries from defending themselves from our corporations, weapons are distributed to BOTH the installed dictators and also to the rebel groups who fight them.

Divide and conquer is the only way for Empires to defeat and enslave Humanity, by becoming the lesser of the two other evils. ( Armed attackers and defenders )
