"Working Class Hero". You said it John...

This song text is a blog-post in itself why I have nothing to add...
More then this is a reality for so many children...If they survive and somewhat manage they become our " Dandelion Children" and we have to be proud of them.. They are the "heroes" i my eyes...

I listen most to what he says about his childhood. What ever happens later in his life surely had their roots there on good and on evil

Thank you sailor I will check up that discussion.
Yeah I do not quite understand what means with that title... I was more interested in the text about his childhood, experiences that he shares with so many children.....

Well, I have been listening to that particular song quite a bit these past days and am making the firm commitment not to be a "working class hero."

We need to feel the reality of the world... and it horrible (and beautiful). We need people to feel empowered to change it. I have come to the conclusion that We are scared shit-less of change. It isn't that we can't change the world quickly and relatively easily, it is that we are comfortable, been made comfortable, so we settle! Settle for ineffective action.

I am naive and proud, so go ahead and tell me you have tried to change the world, and blah, blah, blah, If I believed that for a second that then it would self immolation at the G20 next week, but it is the fear John is talking about and the doping, and making you feel small, etc. You are programmed to fall in line. And I think what is missed by most activists is that protesting isn't revolutionary, it is very normal and comfortable! Saying you love the world and protesting ever third and first Tuesdays and weekends, and giving money to charities, etc doesn't even offset the harm you do by earning the money you make in month. We oppress, so first step is to work on oppressive waves, and also, countering them.

I love you guys and I am railing at myself as much as anyone else, so don't get the impression that I am a holier then thou... Eid Mubarak!

Yes Joni and we will...I see no other reason for being here. Of course i can satisfy my ego and my need of attention. But If I spend so many hours here and still haven´t done anything for the children I have really failed...

Thank you Joni...For taking part in this so important discussion. The reality for so many of our children...
"Raised with fear" that`s a good summary.
I think if we can make people understand what this means to a child we have sown the best of seed joni...
So thank you for helping me...*smile*

Yes you are right I do not really understand the title either. But I do understand the text in the song and the situation he must have lived under and so many with him...
And in a way he was/ is a hero just because he has not only survived these experiences but also made something great out of his life that . He has created music that the world will never forget...
So for me he is a hero, coming from the working class make him maybe to working class hero..

Anyway that definition issue is not what I wanted to share , but the story he tells in his text....
