Sometimes its easy to feel overwhelmed by the bad things in everyday life. Its easy to do. But instead of sitting back and feeling sorry for someone just do something small. I used to regret that I am not able to send a lot of money to charities, or go overseas and actually help in person. But there are many things a person can do without even really trying.
Here are some ideas Ive recently experienced:
If you dont litter, cheers to you. If you do, stop!
Take an extra moment if someone is having trouble speaking your language. You wont regret it and it will be much appreciated. It is very hard to learn a new language and they are probably really trying.
If someone in your town has a catastrophe, just letting them know they are not alone helps. One of my neighbors had a tree fall into thier house and it killed their pet dog, did thousands of dollars damage. I didnt have much money to give but a card and a prepared meal is something.
Dont judge people based on appearance. A punky young man with tons of tattoos and peircings returned to me a $20 bill I had dropped and then helped me carry my groceries.
If you can help someone do it. I was a few $ short at the market register, instead of having to put items back the cashier paid the difference from her own money and wouldnt accept it back later.
Visit your sick freinds/relatives even if they seem hopeless cases. My uncle has Alzheimers and his own kids wont visit, just sitting with him or playing music, it cant hurt, maybe it helps, just dont give up on someone!
If you like pets, adopt one, or get it from a good source. Dont support these awful puppy mills!
Im sorry if I sounded preachy these were just things on my mind. If I can help just one person once in a while Im satisfied, I admit many people have gone out of their way to help me Im just trying to "spread the joy" .

I am totally with you on this. It is one of the main reasons to be on Earth.

I really hope so, and if everyone just did one little thing, a small effort, it would have a huge effect!
thanks for your comments Kelly!

Yes, you're right, being a good person every day, in what ever way we can, big or small...that's just the right thing to do. And we shouldn't worry on what scale we're acting...everything is inter-connected, and through a butterfly like effect, small good actions could have big good effects.

On the other hand, I'm working on a platform that would allow people in the first world to work more directly with people in developing economies, for mutual benefit. I think we are near the beginning of a renaissance of possibilities that will make the world a much better place.

Such wonderful advice, and I totally agree. All the little things that mean so much. It is a matter of time, and people don't take the time to do these things.... but good reminding everyone. I agree and appreciate seeing your spirit and initiative in writing such a good and easy list!!
