Yes, I totally agree with you. I don't want to get the children in front of the computers. Not at all! The idea for writing that blog post came from the flyer we had for the iPeace Day on 31th of December. There were listed up many ideas, what people could do on this day concerning peace, also at home. Under all those proposals, there was printed three times: GET KIDS INVOLVED. And that's the most important thing: to get kids involved in the daily life, to open spaces for them, where they can get in contact with their inborn spirituality, where they can feel and express and share and celebrate it. There is a big lack in our society concerning this.
In that blog post, I only wanted to list up some ideas, how HERE on iPeace the theme 'Children and Peace' could be really present. Those groups existing to that theme, are not really helpful and one has vanished / was deleted. I couldn't find it any more and nobody from the Admin gave me an answer, when I had asked.
There already exist such a lot of books, music, films and ideas for something like peace education. There should be at least one lesson per week in schools' giving space to develop awareness, including awareness for the own body, the own feelings, the own deepest voice and that one deepest source that is in everything: in me, in the others, in nature, in love and peace...
During the last years, there is grown a big treasury with media and ideas, you can download programs from the internet (will give you the adress)... But teachers and parents and other people often don't meet those precious things in their daily life. Here, we could easily present those media and programs, and amazon and the possibility to download make it easy to get these things and informations very soon. We really should create some galleries / lists here...
Ria, you really hit the point. This theme is my theme. Until the birth of Kara Joanna, who will be 7 tomorrow, I worked as a primary school teacher for all the subjects including religious education (thats a normal subject in Germany, but organized by the churches, and moslemic children or children who's parents don't want, don't get it, and the classes are divided up, which does not fit, because SPIRITUALITY is something for the whole class and must be integrated in the daily life at school).
I want to return to school within some time and then offer something like that what you are thinking of. Maybe, I will start doing this by offering workshops for those children who need it most, because they lost their inner peace and silence - caused by a hectic, or nervous surrounding with high tensions... That would include advising the families and teachers.
There are so many children getting diagnosis like ADS or ADHS, some develop depression, some epilepsia (like the 7 year old friend of my daughter, who got heavy epileptic attacks for weeks starting on Christmas eve. Her mother is a very close friend of mine, and I really think that this was also caused by the missing space for the very deep and strong spiritual energy and sensitivity Johanna has (you can see this sooo beautiful girl on the black & white photo 'friends', she is the dark one, both had been 3 to that time).
Ria, you are sooo interested in and touched by children. Which connection do you have in daily life / professionaly?
