Dear Stuart
I was thinking about my day yesterday, what I had done and what I had left undone and then was planning my day today. I thought about all that you had written to me and realised that you had asked me about Perth and if I was born here. I was born in New Zealand and brought up there. It is a very beautiful country, so small and compact. I came to Australia, England and Europe when I was in my early 20's. Went back to New Zealand and met a fellow New Zealander who had lived in Perth and loved it. We came here in 1976 and I have been here ever since. We married but divorced in 1985 and I have been on my own since then. I do love Perth it is a very beautiful city and even though I miss my family back in New Zealand I would not move there.

Your photo is also very good, you look warm and friendly. I look forward to hearing from you again.
All the best

Dear Stuart
Thank you very much for your emails and all of your kind comments. I have had a very quick look at the website of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. It looks like a wonderful, inclusive type of Spiritual Association to belong too. It would fit in so well with your ideas of peace for all of mankind. Of course, you can't have that if you are going to limit some people for whatever reason.

I did have a look to see if there was a congregation in Perth but sadly not. However I did see that there is an online way of learning more about the congregation and spiritual matters. It has only about one month ago that I realised that I did not really know what the word Spirituality meant and how different it was than Religion. I do not have a great deal of time to read but did find a book in our work library on 'Spirituality and Family Therapy'. It was quite a good read but the best part was the references. There were so many good titles, and it would take me the rest of my life to read them all. But I will just plod on and read as I can as we all tend to do. I also borrowed a book from he Library on 'Caring and Spirituality', which is an edited book with articles from nurses. It is not bad, but not as good as the previous book.

I see that you have many friends on ipeace and I do appreciate the time that you have taken to write to me. The photo of me is particularly good, it was taken at a wedding of a friends son. However, when I have been at work all day, shopped on the way home, walked my two dogs, cooked tea and done the dishes, I look nothing like that photo.

Perth is a beautiful city, that sits on a very wide river that runs through the heart of the city. It is the most remote city in the world but with air travel as it is these days, it is not that far from anything. It has a Mediterranean climate. No I have not been to that particular pizza place. I like home cooked pizzas made with Lebanese Bread as a base. But I am a lousy cook so don't ask how I manage to feed myself.

I have learnt how to put things apart from words on these pages because of Jahsi. It took three of our ipeace friends, and two days, to teach me how to put a You Tube video up. I finally got it. Was quite pleased with myself as well.

All the best and thank you once again for taking the time to communicate with me.
Kathryn

Hi Stuart
Thank you for your reply. I only learnt a few days ago how to use You Tube, via the help from a few people from ipeace. So I just cruise around the site and think that a video looks really good, and send it. No real thought behind it. I will get used to looking and be a little more discerning soon, I hope!

I try to learn new things so I can send the beautiful Jahsi things, because she manages to send us all the most beautiful pictures and videos.

I applaud your being a vegetarian. I hope that you are a much better cook than I, believe me I am dreadful. Salads are my forte. But I do still like eating chicken and thought that we all needed fish? Must admit though that I have been reading about the deep sea trawling with their miles and miles of nets! They must catch just anything and everything in their path. Such a dreadful way to catch fish and everything else. Do you know if there is a organisation that is trying to agitate for the end to that practice?

Did you go and visit a dietician to get advice on how to make sure that your diet remains healthy? I suppose all I have to do is ask one of the dietician's at work? No excuse when you work in a hospital.

I must say that I was so impressed by my Aunt's change of mind. I did not expect somebody at 92 years of age to do that. Which says a lot about how we view the more aged than us. She is a real gem and I love her receiving her letters. The only hand written letters that I receive these days. Which I think is a shame because somehow they are far more personal but typing is much easier.

It is interesting that I thought that your umm had negative connotations. It was a bit like my Aunt. Religion and negative seem to go together in my head. Sorry that I misread you.

I wish you well in your endeavour and look forward to hearing from you again. I will be in the USA in early Oct but have no idea where you are so will look at it on a map. I am going to Iowa to a wedding that my son was going to be best man at. I feel the need to represent him and also intend to enjoy myself.

I have a friend who I grew up across the road from in New Zealand and we have not seen each other since 1974. She lives in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and am looking forward to seeing her. (My how we both have changed since the last time we met).
All the best

Dear Stuart
You are very kind, thank you for all of the WoW's but you are the one who is already doing things and therefore I think that you deserve those WoW's not I.

I read a magazine Ode, it is full of good news stories but also stories of what individual people around the world are doing for others and there are some truly amazing people in this world doing some wonderful things. I am afraid all I can talk about is what I would like to do not what I am doing.

Having a child die is nothing like parent's die. Both of my parents are now deceased but they lead their lives and then passed on. My son didn't get to do a whole lot of things such as getting married, having children etc. That is the sad part. Also of course, that I miss him a lot.

I am unsure how to take the ummmmmmmmmm to do with marrying people. When I decided to do the course I wrote to one of my Aunts who is in her early 90's. She wrote back that she was very sorry that I had decided to do that course because as far as she was concerned marriages should only be in a Church and done by a Minister. But in the next letter she wrote that she had been talking some friends of hers and they had convinced her that some people do not want a religious marriage and that was okay. So she gave me her blessing. I was very relieved because I love my Aunt's and do not want to do anything that they may not be pleased about.

I have read that Australian's are not as religious, in general, as people in the USA. Over 56% of people in Australia do not marry in a Religious ceremony. I will be giving a service to those people. I hope that helps with the ummm. :)

I trust that you enjoyed working in the hospital. I really like the friendships that I have made and the friendly and very kind and caring people that I work with in the hospital. I hope that you found that also where you worked. I will have a listen to your program.

all the best

Dear Stuart
Thank you for your very kind letter and I would be very proud to become a friend. I have had a quick look around your ipeace page and it sounds as if you do a lot of very good work for peace within the USA and the world. I do not have the knowledge or skills to do the type of work that you do and certainly not the courage to put myself on TV, so I do admire you for putting yourself out there.

I work in a psychiatric hospital and have done so for a number of years, mostly since becoming a social worker at the age of 44 years. But I am ready to leave that job now but have to work so did a short course the second semester last year to become a Marriage Celebrant because that seemed like a happy thing to do.

This year I am going to Egypt, because my sister is going there, but I have booked into a course in Alexandria to learn how to teach English as a second laguage and in that way I can volunteer in some countries and at least be some use.

I see that your son turns 27 today. My son would have turned 27 tomorrow, so I am in a lot of pain today. He died last December, he had developed a very bad heart in 2007, he had a heart transplant last April but died in December. We miss him terribly. I have a daughter who is 29 years of age. We are going out to dinner tonight with some friends of my son and it will help to sit around and talk about him. He was a fun loving young man who liked to tease and play tricks on us all, so we will have a good laugh remembering him.
All the best

Dear One,
Thanks for communicating. I was a full time student this spring, as well as managing a full time successful business. I travel a lot and lead my Confident Communicator™ Workshops. I have been remiss with so many commitments, deadlines, even family, etc. Bit off more than I could comfortably chew. However I made it through. Thanks for your concern. Have been playing catch-up. Will connect again soon. Namaste, Nancy
