I am one with my group sisters/brothers and all that I have is theirs.
May the love that is in my soul pour forth to them.
May the strength that is in me lift and aid them.
May the thoughts which my soul creates reach and encourage them.

With love for you Luisella

Thank you so much for sharing information about your family and your situation Fatima. It must be so frightening. I pray that you and your family will be safe and the violence will be over very soon so you and your family will be able to resume a normal life and you can have a peaceful home and your children can attend school. I agree with you that education is one of the most important things to have peace in the world. Education is very empowering. I am touched that you shared with me your children names. How old are they? Have they been able to attend school previously?
I have two children, a girl and a boy. Their names are Chelsea and Andrew. Chelsea is 16 years old and Andrew is 11 years old. I am married to a wonderful man named Allan. We lived in Briitsh Columbia, Canada very near the city of Vancouver.
I have shared with my family, the story of your family and they are all holding you and your family near to their hearts. We are all thinking of you at this time and pray for your safety and well being.

With love and peaceful thoughts,

Blessings
Susan

I see you told me your daughter's name, Sania. What a pretty name. Does it have another meaning?

Fatima, my dear,

I am so happy that we are friends and can connect woman to woman. So many women in your country are afraid to make connections with women in other countries because they are living in fear of their families, the leaders of the mosques and the enforcers of your laws. I am full of respect for your courage and willingness to reach out to me and other women in the west. In UK, we are lucky that our grandmothers and mothers fought for equal rights for us to enjoy today. We are appalled that so many women all over the world are still living lives of repression. I am now 65 and retired from my working life. I was treated as an equal person working with men in the the civil service for 20 years. I have 2 sons now 42 and 41 years old (probably near your age) and I was able to carry on working while they were growing up because I could pay another woman to care for them after school and in the holidays. Employment law in UK has become more and more orientated towards the needs of women who work and this benefits the men too, because they are now enjoying better health and safety conditions, due to the influence of the women. It is my mission to reach out to women like you to tell you about what is possible. When enough women feel empowered enough to let their needs be known, a few men will at first take notice and gradually it will become the male way to acknowledge their women as equal citizens and in the home.

I am so happy that you are already one of the lucky women in your country whose husband understands and practises this concept. He is very brave, because he must be very much alone with his ideals at this time.

Please tell Muhammad I apologise for sending my good wishes to his "Daughters". Somehow I mistakenly got the impression that his children were all girls. Is your daughter (what is her name?) the eldest of your children? How old is she (is 9th grade the same as in UK) ? What are your sons names and ages? Do they attend the same school or are the girls separated from the boys for education?

My love and a big warm hug to you, dear friend.

Dear Fatima,
Welcome to ipeace. I am new also to the ipeace group and am just finding my way around and meeting lots of lovely people that have a common goal. I have read your husbands writing here on ipeace and found your post through the Women For a Change Group. I have been a member of Women For a Change for a few months and have made many wonderful friends from many wonderful countries all over the world. I would love to include you as one of my friends. We women must stand and work together for peace. I honor your husband for being so outspoken when so many men would not want women's voices to be heard. I would love to hear about your children. Do you have boys and girls? Is there a school available for them to attend. One of my favourite groups to help is Greg Mortenson's Central Asia Institute which builds schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the children and promotes education for girls as well as boys.
Blessings,
Susan
