Yes, for me the biggest obstacle is Religion, although belief in a Great Spirit is not in itself the obstacle. It is the interpretations of sacred text with which the male religious leaders have brainwashed generations of children leading to the impasse we have today. Even young women are now offering themselves as suicide bombers. This I do not understand. How misguided they are.
