Everybody has to live somewhere!
I'm always asked this. What do you do? Why do I have to do anything? I'm retired now and want to enjoy my life. We are called 'human BEINGS' and not 'human DOINGS' !
Anyway the advertising is good for 'God's Own Country' so I thought I'd like it there - I didn't. Just tourist advertising of wonderful scenes that don't show you the coir workers, the mosquitoes and the deadly currents in the sea etc.
I found to get to really know a place you have to live there for a while. I'm not a tourist - I prefer to think of myself as a traveller, both in India and in this life. I have theories about why Kerala is so different from the rest of India but try to look at people as human beings and not the different states, countries, colours, religions etc. Do you enjoy Singapore? I have a friend in Trivandrum who will be moving there soon. Caz

Hi Baiju, I am delighted to be your friend and to know you a little through your page. It is so sad and desperate to see what happens in different parts of the world, so many injustices for the ones that have less oporutnities to deffend them selves. I read some things in your blog and as I feel sad for all you tell, I also remember how many people just like you, working all over the world to try to solve a little part of the problems. I live in Mexico and we have a difficult reality here too. But I am allways amazed of how many people is working for the ones more in disadvantage. So the sadness and the Hope goes together. Dear Baiju - thanks for asking to be my friend. I was spending part of the year in Kerala over the past 3 years and decided not to go back again. I found it a difficult place to live and it was not easy to make friends. I could list the things I didn't like just as I could list the things wrong with societies and countries all around the world but I know that gets us no-where. I heard a story a long time ago that I still use as an example. If a tree is dying from lack of water what do you do? Do you take a cloth and wipe water on to each leaf? No - you pour the water where it is needed - at the roots.
Same with this world. Many many people are trying to solve all the individual conflicts in this world. What we need is to solve the initial problem. That is that people are lost and no longer know where to go to feel peace, happiness and satisfaction. They look outside in the world. That may work once or twice but the source of peace and happiness is within inside each one of us.
That's the place that needs the water.
And what is the water? It's to be shown a way to connect with that place inside where we can drink, drink, drink endlessly. When you feel happy you don't want to fight and beat your wife and abuse your workers etc. Everything feels fine and you feel all those fine qualities like patience, kindness, tolerance, love, acceptance....the list goes on.
As you see - peace is inside - we eachhave to feel it for ourselves. It's not something we can give away or control people to keep the peace. If people are at war within themselves no amount of control will work.

This site could open your eyes to be more accepting. IT IS A GREAT GREAT PLACE TO BE. They really do take people off the site here, if you want to stay, take off any comments you made. Be open to all people, that is the idea behind this site TO LEARN AND BE ACCEPTING ABOUT EACH OTHER.
