HEY, MY NAME IS BEZALEL RAVIV (AKA CHAIM ISSAC BEZALEL RAVIV) AND I WERE BORN IN TIBERIAS, NEAR THE GALILEE LAKE IN THE NORTH OF ISRAEL.

LEGEND SAYS JESUS WALKED ON THAT LAKE 2000 YEARS AGO, WHEN I, ON THE OTHER HAND, ALMOST GOT DROWNED IN THOSE WATER
WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD.

I AM THE YOUNGEST OF 12 SISTERS AND BROTHERS AND I WERE BROUGHT UP AS AN ORTHODOX CHILD TO MY JEWISH TUNISIAN PARENTS.

WHEN I WERE 10 YEARS OLD I WERE ASKED TO JOIN ISRAELI NATIONAL CHOIR, "FLOWERS OF JERUSALEM".
AFTER MY VOICE HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY JUST A YEAR LATER, I WERE ASKED TO LEAVE THE GROUP.
THAT WAS WHEN I DISCRETELY STARTED TO WRITE AND COMPOSE MY OWN STUFF IN HEBREW AND ENGLISH.

AT AGE 21 I ARRIVED IN NYC WITH BIG HOPES IN HIS POCKET AND MY OLD NOTEBOOK OF LYRICS IN MY HAND.
I WERE WELCOMED BY THE LOCAL GAY COMMUNITY AND STARTED PERFORMING IN NYC'S BARS AND DISCOTHEQUES, THIS TIME AROUND I DID NOT WEAR THE YAMAKA ON TOP OF MY CURLY HEAD.

ON 2005 I ARRIVED IN ITALY AND RELEASED THE SINGLE "INTO MY LIFE" AND IT CHARTED AT NUMBER 6 IN ITALY ON THE IDN CHART.
I THEN RELEASED IN EUROPE THE SECOND SINGLE "GOOD TOGETHER" WHICH WAS SIGNED TO EMI FOR A PUBLISHING DEAL. NOT A BIG DEAL! :)

TO SUPPORT "GOOD TOGETHER" AND ITS PRO-PEACE MESSAGE I HAD LAUNCHED "THE GOOD TOGETHER REMIX CONTEST"
WHICH ALLOWED EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD TO REMIX THE SONG.
"SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR HUT OFF TO PEOPLE", MUSIC WEEK MAGAZINE WROTE ON ME AND THE CONTEST.

AS PART OF MY GRUELLING SELF-ACCEPTANCE JOURNEY, I WROTE THE THIRD SINGLE, "TUNISIA".

"TUNISIA", THE FIRST SINGLE OFF OF MY NEW "ETHNICO-POP" PROJECT WITH LOTS OF TASTES AND MUSICAL INFLUENCE FROM THE MIDDLE-EAST, IS AN UP-BIT AND UPLIFTING SONG WITH AN HAUNTING BIT IMPORTED FROM NORTH AFRICA AND A BREEZY GUITAR STRUMMING.

THE SONG DEALS WITH MY TRANSITION FROM CHILDHOOD TO NOW AND IT TELLS THE STORY OF TWO LOVERS THAT GET TOGETHER IN THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM, BUT THEN SHE DISCOVERS HE'S A JEW AND HE DISCOVERS SHE'S A MUSLIM.
SURPRISINGLY, THEY FIND THE WAY TO PUT THEIR CONFLICT ASIDE AND LOVE LEAD THEIR WAY.

I USED AN OLD RECORDING OF MY MOTHER EXPRESSING HER OWN PRIVET HOPES, IN TUNISIAN-ARABIC, FOR A BETTER TOMORROW BETWEEN CHRISTIANS, MUSLIMS AND JEWS.
THAT'S CO-EXISTENCE AT ITS BEST – LIKE SHE REMEMBERS IT AS A CHILD IN TUNISIA.
