In those day of uncourage of our EU Governement, I red from fantastic Greece:
There are those who decided to protest against the occupation Israeli and war crimes for Tsahal, with gestures purely symbolic but still significant.
The Israeli embassy has sent a Theodoros Pangalos, Member (Socialist, ndr) Greek Parliament, three bottles of wine as a gift for the holidays, with Ali Giachi from Embassad wishes.
Theodoros Pangalos returned this gift and thanked the ambassador with the following letter:

thanks for the 3 bottles of wine that I received to you as Christmas. I wish you, your family and into Ambassad everyone a happy new year. Good health and progress for all of you.
Unfortunately I have noticed that the wine that you sent me was produced in the Golan Heights. I was taught since I was very young, not to steal and
not to accept the proceeds of theft. So I can not accept this gift and are forced to return.
As you know, your country illegally occupies the Alture the Golan Heights belonging to Syria, according to the law International and the many decisions of the Community International.
I take this opportunity to express my hope that Israel find security within its borders internationally recognized and that the activities terrorism against Israeli territory from Hamas, or anyone else be controlled and made
impossible, but I also hope that your government stop practice the policy of collective punishment that was applied on a large scale by Hitler and his armies.
Actions like those of the Israeli military in recent days Gaza to recall the Holocaust of Greek Kalavrita, or Doxato or Distomo, and certainly one in the ghetto Warsaw.
With these thoughts I would like to express my Best wishes to you, the people of Israel, and all peoples of our region in the world.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Holocaust Remembrance Day aims to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive in a bid to prevent further acts of genocide. January 27, 1945 was the day on which an advancing Soviet army liberated the largest Nazi death camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Poland.
In resloving to observe this Day every year the UN General Assembly unanimously condemed "without reserve" all manifestations of religious intolerance, incitement, harassment or violence against persons or communities based on ethnic origin or religious belief, whenever they occur".

Happy New Year to you as well, Dimitris. I really enjoyed meeting you at the INEH conference and hearing your talk about the Devas. Your sense of humor and irreverence were wonderful.
I wish you the best in 2009.
