When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
Our Planet, Violence, Other
So what is it?
So many things together. Some alternative to old faiths in God. Some great leaders with visions and wizdom and compassion.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
There are many reasons to hate, fear, suspect, and want revenge. But most of all, we fear that nothing would work, that there's nobody to make peace with, that compromising is giving up, that giving is loosing respect, that they all don't understand and cannot understand us, that they are trying to fool us, that we are ready but they are not.... .... .... That if I step in, I will be pulled down a whirlpool and won't be able to rise back...
I want to add, that more and more I see blind hatred to settlers, even those that were born there! Replacing one blind hatred with another is no good. One can be in total disagreement with the other and still dialog. For Israelis I say: at the end of the process, we want these setters to get out and you know where they'll go: to become our neighbors! We must make it easier for them to leave their homes and come home.
Can we change the world?
More about me
I'm working on promoting the Arab Peace Initiative in Israel these days. Please see the following and help distribute it, if you could. Make changes as you see fit:
"Israel accepts the Arab Peace Initiative" - this would be the headlines if leaders from Arab states spoke to Israelis through Israeli TV and gave a touch of reality and sincerity to the historic initiative which so far is more like dry text.
Cause "Peace is a state of mind"... (quoting His Excellency, Dr. Majali, former PM of Jordan, at a conference in Al Quds U, Nov. '08)
You can help!
We need leaders, professors, students, etc. from 22 Arab states to talk to us (Israelis). We will organize an international conference with prominent Arabs, Israelis and Israeli media. Just connect us with Arab presenters.
There is a public campaign running in Israel these days that promotes the API through ads in major Israeli print and online dailies (Haaretz, Israel Today, ynet.co.il), stickers, road signs, published newspaper articles, and PR.
Hebrew readers, see our web site: yozmatshalom.org and join the petition.
