More about me: born in Jerusalem 1967 to a Palestinian journalist who was jailed for 7yrs. for his writings then expelled out, as a kid growing under occupation w/so much hate and wanting to take revenge while dad preaching peace from behind bars..it toke me years to get his message, now living in San Francisco where I met my Jewish ex-wife and had 2 amazing kids..

In 1970 my dad Salam living under the Israelis occupation published an article in the newspaper without censorship approval, got arrested the next day, ends up in Ber Shiva prison for the next 7yrs (in the Desert) the worst jail in Israel at the time.. he sent us letters weekly telling us Gandhi stories, for me it was (peace crab) I did not understand at that time....(do not hate love is the answer and so on.).I was full of anger and hate i didn't know what to make out of it ...not until my… Continue

Most of us don't realise the institutional roles we play and therefore keep the hate or fear machines moving. Institutions divide, segregate and isolate all parties. As judges, jailers, consumers, workers and managers, earning and spending in this orchestrated game, we are aware of our own personal and family pains and joys but not of the fear game we are institutionally encouraged to play. work-at and appease with consumer spending on goods and services.

We spend to ease our pain but only end up more isolated in spending precious resources that could have brought us together with our fellow humans. Our greatest opportunities are to live in solidarity with each other, by living simply, considering all of humanity in our spending and encouraging dialogue with everyone including those who might injure us. As we live in solidarity, we as well lay foundations for our economic collaboration and hence the ability to recapture the collective we for everyone's participation and fulfillment.

Your father could see through isolating games and laid such a clear loving example of how to live; that we are all part of the solution everywhere.
