I came accross this strange plant once again while exploring the tropical rain forests of Wayanadu, Kerala, India. It naturally took me back nearly 40 years back into the past and to my childhood at a rural village near Kochi where whe had plenty of greenery, far more than what we have now and plants like these were very common. More about this shy plant can be summarised as:
Mimosa pudica (Sensitive Plant) (pudica = shy), is a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched, re-opening within minutes. The species is native to South America and Central America, but is now a pantropical weed. More from -
