Resorts in Malaysia: Jannek from Denmark and his family return to Lankayan Island Dive Resort. It's one of their favourite destinations where they get to unwind and enjoy the pristine natural environment at this remote and unspoilt location.
Keen to see some of the larger fish, sharks and turtles, he compares this holiday with his previous stay at the resort. This time most of the larger fish were very close to shore just of the beach in front of the guest houses.
It's great for kids! If they don't splash about too much it's quite easy to sneak up on the turtles and small black tipped reef sharks feeding near the banks of seaweed about 20 meters off the sandy beaches.
Lankayan Island is part of a large marine park and is well protected by group of police and army forces stationed on the island. It is a natural nesting place for Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles.

One the the most rarest penguins in the world, About a half hour drive from Dunedin is New Zealands Yellow-eyed Penguin Conservation Reserve. Mr Howard McGrouther established the reserve in 1985. He now provides guided tours through a series of covered trenches and observation huts where the penguins can be observed emerging from the sea and resting in their native habitat. This conservation project is a multi-Award Winner and is entirely financed through these guided tours.

Lankayan Island has some lovely reef and wreck dives but this is one of my favourites. There are some artificial reef structures a short swim off the main jetty. It's like floating through a misty deserted ghost town. There are so many structures it easy to get disorientated as you drift around with lots of large and interesting fish swimming in and out of the misty gloom caused by the somewhat silty, sandy bottom.
