THese days microcredit has become so popular with almost every big bank jumping in saying that it can temporarily beat the lending rates. This misses the point. First real microcredit banks are community banks owned by the members- that means all the surplus gets reinvested in community sustainability. As Grameen formed around 1980 its members held meetings that identified what their wish was to sustain end of pverty at community levels and ensure their children were removed from poverty.
