The Love of Our Animals- Discuss here how animals have changed or saved our lives

Today I heard the recounting of man and his son and dog walking along a river in Southern New Jersey on a cold winter's day. The river froze over as a matter of course in the winter and the trio would walk along the shore and the ice. On this particular day the ice gave way and the dog fell in. The man went into the river and saved the dog. He and his son took the dog home, warmed it and the dog lived on fine.
Weeks later when the three walked along the shore again, the man fell in. The dog saved him.
What a wonderful story. How appropriate for this season that we are entering into. A season of ultimate giving and love. Love is the perfect give, peace the perfect reason. Given in this way, the way the man gave to his dog and the dog to his master, it shines brightly like the Evening Star, guiding our hearts toward understanding and mutual respect.

Please tell me about your animal best friends. Even if the pet belonged to someone else and you heard a funny or inspiring story, let us know.
Bertie,
animals are so wonderful aren't they!
My dog Stella was so much a part of the family. She died in June and we are missing her so much.
Everyone says, when will you get another dog?
We are too busy right now to be home with a dog, and it is not an easy question to answer.
Maybe later, I hope so.
Because our dog added so many smiles to our lives. What a great little doggie she was.
Everyday with a dog is a story. They see the good in life always! She even climbed trees like a cat! And I learned that dogs really do smile, with her. She grinned and it was so funny to see.
But after 15 years she finally died. And we still are reminded of her all the time....

here is Stella in our bathtub...taken in April (she died in June). It was one thing she loved...a nice hot shower! In the bath!!
DK SAYS......A FARMHOUSE WITHOUT A CAT...IS LIKE A CITY WITHOUT A SUPERMARKET....
COME READ AND ENJOY AND SEE HER CATS!!
This is beautiful, great photos of those loved animals. They surely can make a great difference in our lives. I have loved and lost many a cat and dog and now own two cats. The oldest a female is 11 years and the male is 8. They have had three litters together. I have had cats or dogs, or, cats and dogs my whole life. I have watched them grow up, grow old and die and still I could not imagine my life without a pet of some kind. It is that unconditional love that they spread that gets me every time.

oiur dog was with us fo 15 years...I am missing her and having a dog very much. Only thing, our family has changed lately....we are all busy, and one daughter is no longer at home. I am torn between knowing how we could take care of a dog if we aren't there much....sometimes travel, sometimes work....
and so...what to do?
We always remember those we love. It would a crime, a sin if we did not. Just as we remember those humans who went before. A man once told me that on the outside of heaven there is a rainbow bridge that separates the animals from the humans in heaven. When someone dies and he has had a beloved pet that has died before him, the pet can cross the bridge and wait until his "master" or "mistress" arrives. Then they may travel on together.
I told this story to my best friend once and she said, "I'm gonna have a pack of dogs waiting for me."
Well, she passed away three years ago and I wonder if a pack pf dogs crossed the bridge to meet her loving arms.
