As you grow peace within you it draws peace to your environment as well. Peace; if it's going to be it's up to me. ~Dave Kenyon

Your C'est la vie statement brought this to mind.

I personally am just going to get a cane and tromp around being nasty to people, and now I will be able to get away with it because I am old...I don't think you are old, I just think it was way too much too quickly. Plus, at a certain point in life it starts feeling like you have accomplished everything, and that's just not an enjoyable feeling, especially if you are maybe more self-aware than your age group is generally....then I do feel very old.

In part its your job that makes you cynical towards human nature, although you have seemed more cynical lately, not saying it's a bad thing, just I have noticed a different kind of tone/ attitude that emerged this year which is very different.

Oh man, my spelling/ grammar is an embarrassment to nature. Hey, by the way, I try to keep up on all my old friends' profiles whenever I log on. Did Maria leave recently? Do you know why? Beginning to look like we are a shrinking group. Don't know if you keep up, but I was just wondering. I am really out of the loop anymore.

Please, please don't take me too seriously with the Freudian...I am not too serious about it, but how is the Korea situation over there by the way. Are people concerned at all?

Did I misread your point?

Okay, so yeah, we've been arguing about this back and forth and you and ytour coworkers keep arguing about the validity of the conspiracy theories, and I totally agree, but it still seems apathetic. What I don't get is why you don't want to make a political position either way except that deep inside you still have this deeply Marxist streak that creeps out whenever you get too annoyed. Prove to me what exactly the validity of Marxism is verus free market capitalism? I cannot believe that identity is purely created through capitalism.

I'm still figuring how to respond. It's going to take some thinking for a while. I feel like you took off the gloves there....basically what came across was that you just don't like political ideology of anh kind? But isn't that in and of itself an ideology?

Suppressed identity, but deeply internalized. I think that is what we are getting at.

Well, yeah, that's what I was trying to get at. Okay have to run, kids are up, and spilling things.

That seems very fatalistic though. You're essentially saying you just don't want to try to argue that you can assert something as a positive identity? In other words, trying to argue that there can be a positive embrace of political, racial, gender identity that is not a war to achieve is impossible. Therefore, it sounds like you are essentially bowing out of the conflict (i.e. if you ignore it, it goes away)?

I think the point is that identity is considered extremely indivdualistic and a key facet in forming consumerist ideas of identity at the same time that the traditional categories are on the surface no longer important.

My weekend has been busy, trying to keep up with everything, mainly hanging out though. What did you do?
