Should pigeons be considered symbol of Peace?

Although pigeons are considered to be the symbol of peace, they should be denigrated, because they are the most quarrelsome birds on earth. Better is crows, or may be eagles - Crows are very accommodative, they invite their fellows whenever they find something to eat. Besides they sweep their area to keep it clean. Eagles soar high and hover, keeping abreast of their target.

I would agree that it's more to do with the symbolism of a bird with a branch and the various images, thoughts and feelings that this may conjure up within us. So long as we all know what it symbolises I don't think it really matters what bird is actually used. You just won't be able to please all of the people all of the time!

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I actually thought that it was a white dove with an olive branch hence the phrase "extend an olive branch". Just goes to show that so many things are open to interpretation; we're only mere mortals afterall.
