When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Our Planet, Violence, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other
So what is it?
'Economic' (Greek = 'care and nurture of the home and family') recognition and empowerment for diverse contributions. I'm vegetarian for 37 years, vegan 21 years and eat a substantial portion raw but not exclusively yet. These most frequent interactions with the life of earth form our basic socio-economic contract and have the deepest influence on peace, love and ecology.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Other
More
Originally the widespread three-dimensional multi-level Orchard Food Trees and other food plants provided an abundance of food, materials, water, air, soi and life for all species. Studies point to this productivity as 100 times that of 2-D 'agri'culture (Latin = 'field'). Cutting down the tree has been a huge mistake as agricultural scarcity and central control of meagre harvest in a destroyed biosphere leads to war. In order to find peace as well as ecological harmony, we need to work with all species to replant the world's orchard that our 'indigenous' (Latin = 'self-generating') heritage represents.

Lack of 'economic' (Greek = 'care and nurture of the home and family') opportunity for investment by the individual for the pure energy of love and human service. Our indigenous ancestors worked within distinguished Production Society (Guild) specialties whereby Progressive Ownership, inclusive economic accounting through the String-Shell (Wampum, Esnoguay, Seewan, Kayoni, Quipu) welcomed all to become involved in contributing to the infrastructure and well-being of community. A host of checks and balances such as the Right of Dialectic Resolution of issues in all human interactions meant that nothing was "swept under the rug" and all found involvement in governance according to their specialties in an Economic Democracy. Everyone invested through their production societies in community well-being.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I'm project coordinator for the Sustainable Development Corporation, a participatory group focused on livelihood opportunities for all. During the 1970s I travelled 100,000 miles by hitch hiking, lived and worked among Dukobour (Russian), Mennonite (German) and Quaker (English) peace communities. In the 1970s I helped build the natural food co-operatives of British Columbia and in the 1980s helped operate them in Quebec but believe that one-member / one-vote doesn't recognise or motivate livelihood involvement. The origin of the word 'cooperative' is 'co' = 'together' + 'operatives' = 'stakeholders' from the 1500s when Europeans were longing for a return to their 'progressive ownership' guild systems tattered by aristocratic plundering of first the Middle-East and then America. We are all originally indigenous peoples from around the world.

Hows it going today Douglas? I read your co-housing piece. Very interesting. I also have been reading about the New Harmony experiment of the 1820's by Robert Dale Owen. It was an intentional community that tried sharing of property without a basis of spirituality only ideas and idealism. It lasted only a couple of years becaue people brought up in a selfish world couldn't adapt. I like your ideas, I think I personally would like it if I could choose a group to co-habit with.
Peace,
George
