When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other
So what is it?
All of them but most are born in the power of religion. It's power (them-us) that causes the problems.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Religion
More
All of the above , but most stem from religion and the desire for power
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
i am a worn-out peace activist, from Vietnam and on. I lost hope that the US Government would ever listen ti the people in May 1968 when th US National Guard shot 4 students dead during a peacful protest. I am still an activist, but I don't see changes. I will try my best, though-it's just in me.
The best part of a group like this is that my focus is changed to world problems where people share their experiences, and mine become minor. And we are all one world, and all of our problems affect each one of us.
This may sound sappy, but in 2007 on the anniversary of 9/11, the Mayor of New York read a part of the poem by John Donne. "No man is an island...therefore do not run toi see for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."
Unity, my friends, will make us strong!
Promise to respect others and refrain from spamming?
Yes

"> I am still dedicated to Abbie Hoffman's idear of revolution."Revolution is not something fixed in ideology, nor is it something fashioned to a particular decade. It is a perpetual process embedded in the human spirit. --Abbie Hoffman

I have often wondered why Abbie left us, but then I look around at what we have for government now, and nothng has changed-worse if that is possible-and I feel his despair. Power to the people!

Absurdity life is not merely inconsistent...but fundamentally absurd... Absurdity is the condition or state in which human beings exist in a meaningless, irrational universe wherein people's lives have no purpose or meaning. An alternative reaction against drawing-room naturalism came from the Theatre of the Absurd. Whereas traditional theatre attempts to create a photographic representation of life as we see it, the Theatre of the Absurd aims to create a ritual-like, mythological, archetypal, allegorical vision, closely related to the world of dreams. The focal point of these dreams is often man's fundamental bewilderment and confusion, stemming from the fact that he has no answers to the basic existential questions: why we are alive, why we have to die, why there is injustice and suffering. Poverty

I think it's a great idea for people all across the world to blog about poverty as a means of raising awareness! I am afraid the realities of poverty, however, will be difficult to eradicate. But we have to try, and we have to keep trying!

The psychologist Abraham Maslow, in categorizing the human hierarchy of needs, puts adequate food and shelter at the bottom of the pyramid. What this means is that people can't listen to pleas for peace, brotherhood, or anything else unless they… Continue

Give Peace a Chance!

Yesterday I went to Strawberry Field iIn New York City for John Lennon's birthday, October 9. I think most people know, but for those who don't, Strawberry Field is a large portion of Central Park, a memorial to John Lennon, who was shot and killed directly across the street in front his apartment building. John's widow, Yoko, still lives in the Dakota. She has asked that John's birthday be memorialized rather than the day of his death, Dec 10, 1980,… Continue

Love is always present, in the world, in nature, in us. What changes is our realisation of it.
Sending you a hearty smile from nature, dear Sharon.
