When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other
So what is it?
We need to be more based in our hearts, more caring, more cooperative & less competitive, make peace within ourselves, and I feel sure that then all the above issues will be resolved.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Fear
More
Hatred, anger, jealousy, fighting, all come from a lack. A lack of happiness and inner peace. When we are happy we don't need anything above our basic needs for survival.
But, even when we have enough we want more. So we are jealous, angry and greedy. Because we are afraid to look within and find peace inside.
We are afraid of ourselves, and so we are afraid of each other. But we never find happiness as long as we are grasping and fighting, and so it gets worse.
Hatred spreads. Hatred and anger is very powerful.
But love spreads too, and happiness, and trust. And love is more powerful.
That is what is so incredible about iPeace.
It is so heartwarming to find literally thousands of people coming together from all over the world, and more joining every day, with the energy and enthusiasm to spread love and trust, and to build bridges of understanding and empathy. It is so powerful and I feel the beautiful energy every time I come here. And it's such a positive, active energy which is really being channelled and focussed creatively. That's what i feel when i'm here any way.
Blessings to iPeace and to all of you, for being here...
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I lived in Southern Ireland for 5 years, where my son was born in a caravan by candlelight.
At the time, it seemed as though the 'troubles' in Ireland would never end. There was so much history to transcend.
And yet, incredibly, a few years after I returned to the UK, peace happened in Ireland. This gives me great hope.

I think I'm a born pacifist - I can't remember a time when I wasn't a pacifist. But then my mother comes from a long line of pacifists and consciensous objectors.
I was very drawn to Ghandi's teachings in my '20s.

More recently, following a rebirthing experience when my baby died, I was drawn to Buddhism and studied a psychotherapy course set up by a Tibetan doctor, with many retreats. Nowadays I tend not to label myself.

I am now living in a peaceful, beautiful rural part of England, with my husband Andrew, and I feel very blessed indeed.
I look forward to the day when the world is filled with peaceful, loving communities and everyone can experience living in a safe, caring environment.

I have set up a non-profits women's organisation.
The Women for a Change Foundation is a voluntary organisation, registered in the UK.
The Foundation has been set up to link Women Who Help with Women in Need, throughout the world.
As a grassroots movement for change, we promote cooperation and understanding between women from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Promise to respect others and refrain from spamming?

As the release of the 3 US hikers grows more likely, this film shows the real faces of Sarah, Shane and Josh at work in Darfur, Syria and the USA.
Little has been mentioned, by the international media, about the lives of the '3 Hikers' before their incarceration in an Iranian prison, for allegedly crossing the border.

Iran's early statements that Sarah, Shane and Josh were suspected of espionage, were widely reported. This film gives a glimpse into the real lives and work of these three social activists.

Shane Bauer, a fluent Arabic-speaker, is a well-respected, published journalist who reported from Darfur, Yemen and Iraq. His insightful commentaries have covered issues not tackled by the mainstream media.

Sarah Shourd is a women's rights activist who, earlier in her career, was volunteers coordinator working to help stop the femicides in Mexico.

In the aftermath of the New Orleans Earthquake, Sarah was part of a team of volunteers helping survivors.
She later joined the Iraqi School Project in Syria, where she was teaching refugees.

Josh Fattal is a passionate environmentalist who worked at a sustainable living research & education centre in Oregon. He has a deep interest in food issues and had recently travelled with 30 students to India, China and South Africa.

Activist musician, Jackson Browne, supports this film with his anti-war song 'Drums of War'.

Sarah, Shane and Josh are passionate about helping to bring peace to the Middle East in whatever way they can; about helping to build bridges of understanding between different cultures.

They have become pawns in a political 'game' between powerful nations.

Tzippi Keller - 'I am an optimist'

Posted on June 8, 2009 at 4:02am 0 Comments

I have just returned from a 2 week visit to Israel, Palestine and Jordan where I travelled around talking to many people about life in the area and making short videos.

One of the most beautiful people I met was Tzippi Keller, 76 year old mother of Irit, our Israel Women for a Change co-ordinator.

At the age of 16, Tzippi joined the Israel Resistance movement, Hagannah, where she was responsible for a secret arms cache which was used to to defend the… Continue

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA'S PEACE SPEECH IN CAIRO - 04/06/09

Posted on June 4, 2009 at 6:50pm 0 Comments

Good afternoon. I am honored to be in the timeless city of Cairo and to be hosted by two remarkable institutions.

For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar has had stood as a beacon of Islamic learning. And for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt's advancement. Together, you represent the harmony between tradition and progress.

I'm grateful for your hospitality and the hospitality of the people of Egypt. And I'm also…
