Back again in 1822, a smaller shrub was found in the desert in close proximity to Baja California by a botanist named H. F. Connection. Mr. Link named this new plant just after a fellow botanist from the U.K. named T. W. Simmonds. The correct named of the Jojoba plant is Simmondsia chinensis. It was not right until after the U.S. banned whale searching that this plant started off to be cultivated.
