When you use the standard air conditioner, the compressor speeds up to commence pulling down the temperature in the room to the preferred level. When the set temperature is reached, the compressor turns itself off. When the space wants to be cooled once again, the compressor has to start off up again. This repeated restarting puts as well a lot stress on the compressor, overworking it and causing the unit to at some point breakdown and you to sweat out.
