Over the ages true wise men and women rarely sat upon a thrones and looked down upon the masses. They were free-thinkers, visionaries who followed no indoctrination and often lived simply with little more than rags for clothes. They walked among the people on the street and in the gutter, their hands and hearts reached out to touch, comfort and love humanity, including the poor, the troubled and the sick, even their enemies.

Thousands of wise souls walk among us and pass us on the street. They are not special sainted people chosen by some god, religious sect or culture. Nor do they necessarily walk the talk-show circuit dragging their books behind them. Some don't follow any religion or spiritual concepts at all. They are people who simply choose forgiveness, compassion and love…no matter what, and they do so every single day. They are people who choose not to judge -- even secretly in the private corners of their mind – another person's religion, race, skin color, sexual preference, social standing, income and education or lack of.

These men, women and children stand out because they actively live Love. There's no pomp and circumstance about them. They speak softly from their hearts rather than their brains and thoughts. They offer little concept or theory and rarely spout religious teachings. They speak so directly to the heart of humanity that theory pales in comparison. They don’t talk “at you”, but instead talk quietly “with you” using a language that is so ancient it has no words, the language of Love. They "include" you, let you in close to who they are, and even tell you that they love you. They don’t judge, condemn or preach about how to live life. They just live it. They aren’t selling theories or how to(s). They simply emote the truth from their heart to yours. One tends to “feel” their words, not think about them.

I often grow weary of words no matter how wise or beautiful. I feel it’s far more important to actively live love, more important than a thousand words telling us “how to love”. We have dozens of words, theories, concepts, steps, ways, religions and beliefs, but bottom line? Can we forgive? Can we see “other” as self? Can we lay down our words and concepts and let the world in, let Life in, let Love in? Can we move from our brains back into our neglected hearts, and the hearts of our fellow beings? I’m not terribly impressed with wise words, but I am profoundly changed by wise and loving deeds. Who in your life is a wise man or woman and actively lives Love, Compassion and Forgiveness?

Love,
Robin
