Today I prayed

Today I had to hold my prayers longer than I usually do,
I had to pray for men, for women, I prayed for the children too.

I had to pray for nature; for creatures great and small,
I prayed for your protection, for the lives of one and all.

What are we doing with this life so given right to us,
Are we able to keep on going with war and homelessness?

I thought while I was praying and something came to me,
I wonder was my thinking, we will ever come to see?

Will mankind ever grow weary of the killing every day;
will we ever grow tired of the things that people say?

Will we ever rise to the occasion and set a brother/sister straight?
Will we ever take responsibility upon our own plate?

When will we stop the pointing fingers and bow our shameful heads
Will it be an hour later after all but one is dead?

I am sorry if this offends you, but it is all I see,
when I look around the world created for you, for me

I see us blaming others, it's them, it's us, tis not!
When will the truth be in us to see, listen and then stop.

Stop the bickering and judging, stop the upset, war and fear
Knock it off I tell you, the day is growing near,

There will be no more that we can do to stop this thing of death
We must step up and bow our heads and give this thing a rest.

There are mothers crying, fathers in their grave, Children without parents
and people treated as though slaves.

This world was a precious gift, for you, for them, for me,
We haven't been quite thankful, this is clear to see.

It' time my dear dear people for us to come to rest
and put this world together; To do our very best.

We need to stop this craziness, we need to stop it now,
Not upon your glory and not when others bow.

We are all wrong and we are all right, it needn't cause a war
Let's put this world together; forget your sickened score

Our children they are suffering, some are dying too
What else is it people, what do they need from you.

Stop looking to your neighbor, stop looking whose to blame
Pick it up, start over, in your childs name.

They deserve a future, and frankly I don't care how
but they deserve a life and we are robbing children now.

Put your selfish selves aside and stop and take a rest
Lets build our world together, lets do our very best.

I know some think me crazy, for believing in mankind
I do however gruesome it is, what we've left behind.

I believe in human nature to be ugly and mourose
I also believe the truth of human and spiritual growth.

I believe that if we wanted we could stop it all right now
Save whats left and build it for the children, it's merely knowing how.

But first before we do it, we need to bow our heads
for lives that have been taken for innocents now dead.

If we started in this instant, tomorrow we could have hope
and safely tell our children that we would help them cope.

We are raising them in anger, hate and disbelief
There is no victor when our lands are raped to seams.

Stop thinking you're the answer, and grab some self esteem
we have to work together, we are the world, we are the team.

I do believe as always that it's choices NOTHING more
it's not the right or wrong of things, there is no even score.
