Darkness hid from our feeble eyes,
hatching dastardly plans for our demise,
an evil never worse to be seen,
in any nightmarish dream.
And when it burst forth with vicious thrusts,
those actions would be forever cursed,
bringing sixty million deaths across the world,
from all the countless bombs and bullets hurled.
And did those deeds of direst depths,
strengthen our eyes against future hex,
or have we slipped back into heedless ways,
denying the dangers before our very gaze?
This time the danger comes from within all our midst,
insidiously embedded in our casual habits,
waste is the very thing I now fear
which is bringing our destruction ever near.
For right before our still feeble eyes
are poured trash into seas and smoke into skies,
strangling the life from many a beast,
and millions more will join the deceased.
And millions more will be man himself,
with failing crops and dismal health,
as climate change defeats the farms
and this polluted world brings us nowt but harm...
