An unusual wedding in New York Hospital

It was indeed a touching moment when Keith Borum , a terminal cancer patient got to enjoy the best ‘day of his life’ when he entered the wedlock with Nina Scott, his girl friend for three years, right from his hospital bed. At a tear-jerking ceremony, Keith and Nina from Lake Ronkonkoma tied the knot right at the bedside of Keith yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital in New York. Although it was an unusual setting for a wedding, the bride said it was perfect to be married to his beloved.

Keith has been fighting cancer for nearly an year now and had to be hospitalized for long durations. Notwithstanding this, when asked how he felt today, he replied that it was great and one of the best days in his life.

Keith had put up a stiff fight against the disease for nearly 18 months now. But, recently the doctors informed him that his affliction was terminal. He confided in the hospital staff during the long days that he had been in the hospital bed that he needed to save for engagement ring and propose to Nina who was his girlfriend for three years now. The staff at the hospital, particularly the nurses decided to rally behind him and raise the cash needed for the wedding. Donations came in for the cake, flowers and the wedding rings too.

Christina Ware, one of the nurses said the donations came in from different people that the staff knew and the money for the wedding rings was raised by the staff themselves. The wedding ring costing $400 was purchased by the staff while other wedding essentials came in from the local community. The staff even arranged treats for the reception.

It was a touching gesture for everyone around and the big day for the couple was made even more special when the nursing staff piled into the room to witness the couple say their vows. Nina said that it was difficult for her to imagine how great it would or could be. The staff simply outdid themselves and that they could not have had it better.

The couple who were together for 3 years, wore the protective medical gowns over the wedding outfits to afford protection to Borum against possible infection. The minister too wore a medical gown.
