When I am old
"When I am old," I said,
"Will you still love me?"
"When I'm forgetful
And my body won't do
What I'd like it to?"
"Suppose I'm ninety," I said,
"Is that too old to love?"
"When you are old," you said,
"I'll no longer be young."
"This face and this body
That you know so well
Will grow weary too."
"You tell me I'm beautiful," you said,
"You know that will fade."
"When we are old," I said,
"We'll know what love is."
"We'll know about beauty
That's more than those looks
That drew me to you."
"I'll love you for ever," I said,
"Just as you'll love me too."
