Hello, shalom in the name of Jesus Christ amen. I am a man of big heart concerning people and their needs. I thank God for the life of all my friends here. I would like to bring to your cognition; the daily experiences of people in different places even when you are living a comfortable life. In this report, I have included a shot of a location we visited, the agony we saw people passing through, and how we helped them in our own capacity. Our team (Humanity Help Service) took a visit to the camp of the displaced people from Bakassi, in ikang -Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State.Nigeria. After a strong disagreement with the security men, we were permitted to only meet with the women leader: who gave her name as Mrs. God’s will.
Here is the chat our team leader Bro. Utibe Thomas had with her on behalf of other people.
Team leader: Good morning madam, how are you doing?
Mrs. Godswill: Good morning sir. Am fine but.... (Look down in tears).
Our team leader: I am Mr. Utibe, the team leader of the Humanity Help Service can I meet you?
Mrs. Godswill: sure! She replied, I am Mrs. Godswill, the women leader of this camp. I and my family members were among the unfortunate ones to be displaced as the result of the Bakassi crisis.
Team leader: How are you, your family and other people in the camp fairing NOW?
Mrs. Goodwill: You can see sir; we are not doing fine at all. There is problem everywhere.
Team leader: How madam?
MRS. Godswill: Trouble sir! Since we were displaced from our based in bakassi to this place because of the misunderstanding, I hope you are aware.
Team leader: (Cuts in) yes madam.
Mrs. Gods will: (Continues) we have been suffering. No enough food to satisfy our hungry stomach, no clean water to drink. We keep buying the sachet water sold around here by other people. Our children are dying, our youths are jobless...our husbands are now hopeless because they now stop doing what they know best.
No money for families to spend. Things are really tough with us here in this camp.
Team leader: It’s a pity madam. We have seen everything. We have this token for you. We will see what we can do to assist you all in this situation. BUT REMEMBER. These food stuffs are just the little assistance we can only give, we promised to back to assist again. Share it to everybody; it will surely help you all. Remember to pray everyday. God will soon visit okay!
Mrs. Godswill: Thank you sir may GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR team i promise to distribute these to everyone in there. As you can see, we are queuing for the afternoon meal and water.
Team leader: Thank you madam for giving me your time. May God bless you!
Mrs. Godswill; Amen Sir, bye...bye!
Why we write to you is to let you know what people are passing through! You have heard from the women leader and the picture attached below, they are living in tears, feeding from “hand to mouth”.
Our entire team in Calabar has done their part but is not just enough because we are embarking on another project soon!
Some weeks ago, a woman major in Bakassi by name; MRS ITA GIWA visited them. According to the information we gathered, she has been a source of hope and inspiration to these ones, although her support can’t carry every part of their problems.
