Inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act, (ENDA) Introduced to Senate, Contact Senators Today

The news we've all been waiting for has finally arrived, the fully Inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act, H.R. 3017 (ENDA) has been introduced to the Senate. It's time for Florida constituents to contact Senators Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez today. Urge them to become an ENDA cosponsor and put their full support for its passage. (For those living in states other than Florida, see "Related ENDA Information" below. It lists 55 Senators with unconfirmed positions of the Senate Version of ENDA, HR 3017 and their contact information.)

I've contacted both, Sen. Nelson and Sen. Martinez offices by phone and email several times over the past few months. Their staff were unable to offer a firm commitment as to where they stand on ENDA. Only Sen. Nelson responded by email with what was most likely a form letter sent to all who contacted him about ENDA. It states in brief: "I cosponsored a Senate version of the bill in the 108th Congress. I understand the importance of nondiscrimination in the workplace and I have worked in the Senate to protect the civil rights of all Americans. I will keep your views in mind as Congress continues to debate this issue." His response may sound as though he will cosponsor or support passage of H.R. 3017, however, has yet to do either. If you received this email from him, please continue to contact him until he does sign on as a cosponsor or issues a public statement in support of ENDA.

Below is information on how you can take action to express your strong support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, H.R. 3017. If at all possible, please take advantage of all opportunities for contacting Senator's Nelson and Martinez, Equality Florida's Online Email, Call DC/District Office Numbers, Fax, and Online Direct Email/Message.
