What is peace?
It is to me
A smile, a laugh,
A bird flying free
To say what you will
Not mind what you say
Peace is a feeling
Not a command to obey
You can feel peace in a raging battle
As you can feel fear in a field full of grass
Peace needs to stay, to be eternal
Fear needs to be a thing of the past
You turn a brighter shade of green
Every time we meet my friend
You pretend it can't be seen
You style yourself on being free
Yet the only freedom you give is contrived
Anyone who stood against you
Is lucky today if they are alive
Freedom comes at a cost
The price for them is too dear for you
But say the word enough
And they'll believe they are free too
All of which you have is stolen
Bar a few irrelevant things
If you realise you can't win the race
You'll move the finnish line, change the pace
I mean I'm open minded but I'm not stupid
Do you really expect me to believe?
I'd find it more likely you were shot there by Cupid
Than those ridiculous lies that you weave
I've stood by your side
And I really can't see why
As a loyal companion you're not
If it suited your plan
If you'd make lots of money
There's no doubt you'd leave me to rot
Yes you've stepped in a couple of times
To "save the day" as you say
But only because you weren't left a choice
There wasn't an option...
No other way
You're like a monster Frankenstein
Made from the worst parts of us all
We built you up to who you are
Now you'll make us fall
And fool we are
For we believed your lies
The only truth you tell is in jest
With the hope no one of us will realise.
Likie that Sophie - keep 'em coming. I have grown to like poetry more and more after coming to iPeace. There are a lot of good feelings expressed. Thanks
Steph

My sister and I used to make up silly poetry at discos when we were young (I was aobout 21 and she 24. We would stand there and each would say a line, and the other would rhyme it. The boys were not that impressed, well, sometimes they were...but we had such fun doing it! So silly and so long ago.....
