Thanks for bringing up this topic and for responding to my discussion above. I see a lot of parallels to the situation in the Middle East--even if no one else can.

It's tense there but there's an effort to hold down violence and protect people after a disputed declaration of indepence and separation. One has to wonder why the same was not done in 1947 in the Middle East. I guess it was a different time and the UN was new.

This is a very good test for the EU. These countries want to become members. I'm very surprised that what happens there gets such little coverage in the news. Maybe we could move my discussion into a comment and see if anyone has something to say after an invitation..?
