I wrote this poem a year after my step daughter was killed in the London Bombings of 2005.

No Room for Hate.

There is no room within my heart
for revenge, fire or hate
there is no room within my mind
for any thoughts like these.

I cannot find the words to say
just how it is I feel
but I know from deepest hurt
I must forgiveness find.

The hurt that’s been done to us
cuts sore like a knife,
but we must not, repay in kind
what has been done to us.

Instead we must try and find
the way that is so hard,
and reach out our loving hands
to find some friendship now.

There can be no more healing thing
than opening wide our eyes
and seeing that most other folk
are really just like us.

Long Ago

And I learnt
long ago,
Love meant to set the beloved one free;
free of commitments,
free of feelings,
free of thoughts.
So I let you free
Either to love me or not,
to miss me or not,
to need me or not.

And I learnt
long ago,
Having no expectations from the beloved one
Cause what belonged to each other,
belonged to each other.
What didinot belong together
didnot belong together.
Nothing could ever change this
even the universe itself.

And I learnt
long ago,
To enjoy love as it was
With its laughs and cries,
its wonders and magic,
its hope and despair,
its life and death.

And I wished
long ago,
A soul twin to myself,
With his soul could dance mine
Till the end of time.
Until then
I set every love of mine
completely free;
Cause I learnt long ago,
To celebrate was to feel,
To feel was to be,
To be was to free.

What a feast of thoughts and pictures, from beliefs to paint-boxes, from candles to ipeace that will "spread your word everywhere"...and even one for dear Tatiana who is such an example to us all for her courage and love. Thank you Tony, Deniz, Robby, Mariangela and Elizabeth for all this wonderful poetry...my time today is very short as we leave soon for a short break...four days sitiing beside the calm of a lake to recharge batteries...I will see you all when we return and again thank you.

The Life

The life is about
giving and getting back.
For getting,
the one has to learn to give.
For giving,
he has to learn to get.

How poor the ones are,
who have and donot give;
mostly material
all their concerns are about.
And the ones
who want to give and donot have
mostly love that
they cannot let themselves fall in
and even if so,
that they cannot express.

Thank you for putting your precious words here. I loved "The Labyrinth" by Deniz Kite...I wondered where you were leading us and yes the 40th step...ah that is the big step...an amazing achievenment!

Robby thank you for adding your three very different poems and three such different moods. I particularily connected with "Break the Silence" ...think I have been there some time as well but your waking in healing is unique...a beautiful addition here.

Thank you everyone for making this placeso special with your words.

The Labyrinth

We bet; He and I,
About me going through the Labyrinth
Within a Lifetime.
Hopefully, as we agreed,
By following the Light
And reaching the Exit at the End.

He talked with a humble tone,
And said that I would be lost many times
If I wouldn’t remember all
Whatever I was taught until that time.

I answered with ignorance,
And said that I would never be lost,
Surely I would never need a help,
Until I reached the end of my Journey.

He though, as a last attempt
Gave me our Agreement as a reminder,
And a kilometres long Golden Rope
Which at the worst case, could carry me back Home.

The Labyrinth,
Seemed long and complicated at the beginning;
I didn’t know how to decide,
When and what to choose.
But after three steps,
It turned to be joyful and fun.

Then came rules of rules to be experienced and reflected
That each made my decisions more complicated;
Or more likely to say,
They forced my Journey to be one-way.

Whatever was clear at the Beginning,
Became blur after a while,
Whatever was blur for a while,
Became impossible to recognize at the End.

Shapes changed,
Colours disappeared,
Time seemed not to exist.
And myself,
I took not more than seven steps until then.

The Golden Rope, can you believe,
Somehow started with me,
Though I haven’t touched it myself.
And at the 13th step,
I have seen the first spur of Light.

Walking through the Labyrinth,
To be honest, was a hard job.
The more I thought strategies,
The more mistakes I made.
The more mistakes were done,
The more judgments occured,
The more I judged
The more I was lost.

The Agreement was in my hand,
So to say it was a proof that I wasn’t mad,
But re-reading it a thousand times even
Didn’t help me much.
The Golden Rope was there,
And I could follow it backwards
But it would only take me to the Beginning,
Though I needed to reach the End!

There came the time,
When I took the 30th step,
I wished I could remember all!
What was I taught?
What was I told?
Who was I to start and finish?
And what was the path?
Why I was in a Labyrinth?
Who knew, until when…

Tired of all thoughts,
And emotions of all kinds,
In tears I sat down;
Neither could I go ahead nor could I take a step back.

As death seemed to me the only Exit,
I wanted to die.
And I started to question,
If dying in the Labyrinth was the Beginning or the End.
There was only one way
One way to learn after all,
This was to reach to the End…
So I took the 40th step,
And somehow after the 33rd!

All Killing is Wrong

All killing is wrong
wrong in the sight of God
Wrong in the sight of man
wrong in the sight of woman
wrong in the sight of children

Violence only has ever produced pain
and grief and loss and yet further pain
how will we ever explain the reason why?
For there is no reason except for hatred
and there lies our real mortal enemy

I do not have the answer to it all
I only wish I did...but I know
this killing must come to an end
and peace enfold us in its wings
and love grow in the place of death.

I pray, you pray, we must all pray
To the Lord of Peace to change
that hard place within the heart
to turn us away from this path
and lead us into light...I pray
