I wrote this poem a year after my step daughter was killed in the London Bombings of 2005.

No Room for Hate.

There is no room within my heart
for revenge, fire or hate
there is no room within my mind
for any thoughts like these.

I cannot find the words to say
just how it is I feel
but I know from deepest hurt
I must forgiveness find.

The hurt that’s been done to us
cuts sore like a knife,
but we must not, repay in kind
what has been done to us.

Instead we must try and find
the way that is so hard,
and reach out our loving hands
to find some friendship now.

There can be no more healing thing
than opening wide our eyes
and seeing that most other folk
are really just like us.

I Wonder Why

We really did that;
Our relation consisted of
Attack, defense and avoidance.

One after another,
You or me or vice versa,
But it was never enough,
The ache, anger, sarrow we had.
And the courage to stop the fight,
Was not there at all.

There were unspoken
Or not right spoken words.
There was a hidden agenda
As negotiators would say.
And even worse,
Non discovered feelings,
We never will know what…

Ah, thoughts and senses of all kinds;
Not touched,
Or who knows maybe triggered much…
We really did that.

And life was simple,
Now I wonder why,
To have a naked mind and soul,
Was ever so far…

Craig, Thank you for your 'poetic' writing about the Twin Towers Disaster. We can only imagine how horrific it must have been to have been there and been part of the rescue. You have given us much to ponder upon and your picture of the frosted empty trees certainly stirred some part in me. Thank you.

Have A Great Weekend!

Don't forget to go out and do something to help change the world today. Bring a meal to a homeless person or family. Clean out your closets and bring your unneeded findings to a women and children's shelter. Start a block clean-up in your neighborhood. The world won't just change because we are talking about it. We have to work with it.

Be Blessed!

I love to come here and quietly read your words.
I can slip in and out without being seen
and read your wisdom, your harmony
your inner passion and healing
Thank you for sharing so much of yourselves
it is a privilege to read your thoughts.

words of wisdom,
words of love,
words of peace,
words of hope,
words of support,
words in harmony,
words in poetry.

The following poem was written by my brother few years back. He was
A journalist who was political assassinated in
Latin America in 1995 at the age of 38.

Enough
By Julio Rene Lemus

Hello, How are you my soldier friend?
War has become with no end;
I cannot return to my own land.
I am a deserter,
One who refused to killed his own
Brother and sister.
I only wish to write to you today
And then, die in peace.

Be my own voice
And scream: ENOUGH
Hunger, criminal social darkness,
Cadavers tossed around as trash.
Enough crying mothers,
Dark evil around.
Enough
Green uniforms, gun machines sounds,
Back planes embraced with dark wishes.
Enough wasteful intellectual,
Spiritual death,
Physical death.
Dry fields incapable of harvesting.

Look around you, soldier friend.
In the children’s eyes,
The light of HOPE forever rests
In the mother’s eyes,
The sign of PEACE perpetuates the morning light.

Peace will return by the banks of the rivers,
By the infinite oceans
Under the bright full moon.

Let my voice rest on the soldiers’ shoulders
Let it spread over fields and battalions.
Let us together harvest PEACE
Let no other gun shot be heard again.

War

War, what is it good for
but to destroy
Men seem to think this is the way out
they do not look at the faces of babies
how they cry because their homes have been destroyed
The mothers cannot sleep because their babies have left home to maintain peace.

Who is at peace, is it you and me
how can that be when half the world is not free
so many people willing to die for a cause
but if that sat and pause they would realize they are making a bunch of noise.
War, what is it good for
but to destroy.

And here's a poem by my husband, Nabil Sawalha, written in memory of all the young people who despaired too soon:

I Need You Son, Please Don't Leave

I need you son
to sing my song
and shine your sun
far bright and strong

My soul is yours
to carry on
the hope that cures
despair my son.

Why go so soon
your heart is young
why waste a tune
a song unsung?

When I no more
Who'll greet the sun
and save the shore
from the tyrant's gun?

Embrace your love
and make your dream
the flying dove
the child, the stream.
