I wrote this poem a year after my step daughter was killed in the London Bombings of 2005.

No Room for Hate.

There is no room within my heart
for revenge, fire or hate
there is no room within my mind
for any thoughts like these.

I cannot find the words to say
just how it is I feel
but I know from deepest hurt
I must forgiveness find.

The hurt that’s been done to us
cuts sore like a knife,
but we must not, repay in kind
what has been done to us.

Instead we must try and find
the way that is so hard,
and reach out our loving hands
to find some friendship now.

There can be no more healing thing
than opening wide our eyes
and seeing that most other folk
are really just like us.

Hi Brotha' Anthony:
I confess, I did enjoy reading your poem-- it speaks a truthful message regarding the status of the world today. Nonetheless, becauase you are not deaf, dumb and blind, you must continue to fight the good fight via words, deeds and compassion! Thank you for sharing with your Peace Poetry Community~ Keep writing out peace. Abiding hope & Peace~ Emm Dee B.

The Empty Teacup
By Raven Cohan

Some know the tale of the Ancient Teacher
Who was visited by a man who said he, “ wanted to learn”.
The Master sat him down, offered tea & sympathy
But he sensed the student’s fullness in himself.
The Master poured the tea and he kept on pouring
‘Till the cup runneth over absolutely everywhere.
Leaping up- the student cried, “What is this?! What are you doing???”
And here is what the Master then replied…
(Refrain) Sing 2times.
In order to receive a hearty cup of tea.
In order to gather wisdom from anyone like me
You must start with an Empty Cup… And perhaps
Never fill it up…

We are all on our paths yet we may not know it.
And we may wake up one day and think we want to learn more.
Being truly sincere, then we really need to ask
If we’re ready to give up our attitudes.
There’s a master within and some Ancient Masters
Who are willing to share much if we really listen well.
We must be quite alert to the fullness we call ego

And remind ourselves by singing this refrain…

Refrain sung twice… (second time sing “ I must start with an empty cup, and perhaps NEVER fill it up!”)

Anthony, I share in your wish to be deaf, dumb, and blind at times; It would certainly ease the pain and suffering we feel as we see, hear and are impacted by the saddness of this world, however, people such as we are (enlightened beings) will never enjoy such a luxury as that because we have to fight the good fight to stop all that is, or will become injustices in this world. Even if just with our words and actions. Thank you for the opportunity to read your words. Peace

This is a poem I wrote some years ago that I wish to share with you all:

Deaf, Dumb and Blind

Sometimes I wish I could not see
the badness in the world
Being Blind I would not see
the sadness in the world
Faces painted with fear and misery
I would not have to hide
behind the walls of vast futility
or the tears that I have cried
Sometimes I wish I could not see
the anger and the pain
when men cry out in righteous rage
having lost their rights again

There are times I wish I could not hear
the arguments of others
If I were Deaf, I would not hear
the wails of widowed mothers
The screams of souls in agony
grim music in times of war
The lies we’re told by our government
would assail my ears no more

Sometimes I wish I could not speak
when I see and hear these things
If I were Dumb, I would not speak
of the torment to my mind they bring
I’m neither deaf nor dumb or blind
impossible for me to escape
the urgent need that my heart feels
to change the world’s miserable state

Hello everyone, I am happy to be a part of this wonderful group that recognizes the power of words to bring about change. May our joined voices and words of peace drown the world in hope!

Sophia, thank you for your eloquence. How welcome are the lines of hope:
"guided by the holy ones
humanities star will rise again"
Thank you for your inspiring words.

I see that both Ralph and Daniela have talen up the theme of the seed of peace:
"Before and Beyond
where Peace is pursued,
the rippling seed
in each heart, imbued."
and
"Peace is a seed"
Indeed this movement on ipeace reminds us thatwe have reached 5000 members out of 6.5 Billion people on earth. We are the seed of a movement that will re-shape the destiny of mankind.
Renee, I was deeply mved by Voices of Silence. You pile up the metaphors in layers and one needs to re-read it again and again to see each one...but then when you hit us with:-
"And in the shadows of jerusalem
Voices of the slaughter
speak in the silence of tomorrow"
The whole terrible sadness of the conflict is contained in these lines and there seems no resolution as the killing continues, the injustice continues...my heart breaks for the whole sorrymess we have made of it all...is there to be no hope? Or will the walls of separation within the hearts of men continue to imprison us all.

All poems signify what is in our hearts and is an expression of true love for mankind. May we all attain peace in our lifetime.

STAND WITH US IN PEACE

Stand with us, not against us
as we offer our hand in
Peace.
See that our words and thoughts
can make a difference in this
world.
Man with Man can change
misconceptions
Give the working process a chance
to mend our souls
So that we may be one and whole.

Peace is a seed,
we can water it to us in our heart,
we can give it with love.

Both for you the peace
that embraces the whole world

Love

Daniela
