Both Geometric abstraction and Lyrical Abstraction are often totally abstract. Among the very numerous art movements that embody partial abstraction would be for instance fauvism in which color is conspicuously and deliberately altered vis-a-vis reality, and cubism, which blatantly alters the forms of the real life entities depicted.

These colours literally jump out at you! They are so bright, the pigment in the colours are so intense, that you cannot ignore them. The way they blend together, the way they compliment one another, it is slmost impossible to get colours that are brighter than these. They seem to have light coming from inside them, bursting outwards.

Why is it that bright colours, opposite colours excite us? There are people who study colours, and they can tell us.
But when we need to be calmed, we need softer, milder, colours that are similar to one another. Add just one dot of a different color in the middle, and the excitement begins again.
Here, I believe it is me....in the photo, wearing jeans and a green sweater...
