What is Twitter ?

Twitter is a free service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

How do I use it?

Tell Twitter what you're doing in 140 characters or less! Send your thoughts, observations, and goings-on in your day. Whether you're "eating an apple" or "looking foward to the weekend" or "Heading out of town" it's twitter-worthy.

What does it mean to follow someone on Twitter?

Following someone simply means receiving their Twitter updates. How you receive the updates (on your phone, IM, or just on the web) is up to you. You can set your following preferences based on device, and then set notification preferences for each person you follow. Your followers are those who have elected to receive your twitters.

Comment by Susi Baumgartner on January 13, 2009 at 5:12am: Yes, that's right Paris, the suggestions I put up are just if you want to cut and paste and retweet the message, and as I explained the shorter #tags for e.g. #Aid or #Gaza etc. are already tracked or being used for other topics,
this one: #Aid4Gaza iS the shorter version of the cause name, but adding the word 'Children' with a space to emphasise and identify the cause is 'Aid to the Children of Gaza' and of course, keeping the facebook link in for donating.

Naturally people can tweet whatever, and add things, these were examples for those who are not yet so familiar with twitter & tweeting...

the minimum tweet below, still leaves 96 characters
