What is Twitter ?

Twitter is a free service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

How do I use it?

Tell Twitter what you're doing in 140 characters or less! Send your thoughts, observations, and goings-on in your day. Whether you're "eating an apple" or "looking foward to the weekend" or "Heading out of town" it's twitter-worthy.

What does it mean to follow someone on Twitter?

Following someone simply means receiving their Twitter updates. How you receive the updates (on your phone, IM, or just on the web) is up to you. You can set your following preferences based on device, and then set notification preferences for each person you follow. Your followers are those who have elected to receive your twitters.

Where can I learn more?

Please consult About Twitter, Twitter Help, or the Twitter FAQ.

All Good David :)
Hi all,
suggestions for the #tag to use in your tweets is: " #Aid4Gaza Children " & the facebook link is "http://tinyurl.com/9hgad7" so include both of these in your tweets!

examples below and on
@iPeace_me

Tweet #Aid4Gaza Children & Donate here http://tinyurl.com/9hgad7

Support @iPeace_me #Aid4Gaza Children @ http://tinyurl.com/9hgad7

#Aid4Gaza Children http://tinyurl.com/9hgad7 @iPeace_me plsRT

keep the #Aid4Gaza part together then a space before the word 'children' so it can be easily tracked on twitter search - #aid4gaza

happy tweeting :)

Yes, Sabina the idea of the tag# is so that the tweets around the campaign can be tracked, so it doesn't really matter which word the #is attached to or how long the phrase is, it is mainly to keep track of the tweets in one theme.

#Gaza is already being used, and is at the moment at the top of the list, and the focus on that thread is quite different than what this one is about, so I thought it would be better to tag for example the word 'children' or 'aid' etc...

I asked David and he will notify us of the 'official' tweet to use, so as to be uniform in our tweets and approach.

For anyone who likes to know more about #'s here's a link:

sweet tweets,

Susi, the tag you are suggesting is too long. It shortens your tweet, which is already only 140 signs short.
What about #GazaChildren (or even some shorter tag)

Can I suggest a # tag for "Aid the Children of Gaza" for twitter David??

It creates momentum and spreads the message much faster...perhaps the # could go next to the word 'Children' for a greater effect e.g.
Aid the #Children of Gaza OR #Aid the Children of Gaza any ideas?

Chris, I think that main focus should be on the iPeace group. Twitter is just another service that makes it easy to follow what other people are doing, and to promote the idea of iPeace.
I use Twitter to microblog about what I'm doing at the moment, to engage with people in conversation and to "promote" my network and other interesting sites and events.

I follow more than 1000 people and I've created groups on TweetDeck, to have a better overview of different areas of focus - for instance those who tweet about green topics. I will also create the iPeace group, which will only help me to follow tweets separately from all the other tweets and not to overview anything important.

Great weekend to ya'll,
Sabina

Thanks Sabina ! I've been looking for a good twitter desktop app, so I'll install TweetDeck and see...

I took a quick look at tweetworks (two actually), and I must say that I'm not quite convinced yet. My concerns are as follow :

- I am under the impression, hopefully wrongly, that many members of this group are new to twitter, so asking them to learn to use two new services in the same step might be too much for some...

- We already have a group here. I'm not sure I see the benefits of duplicating the group on twitter...

Would appreciate your perspective on the above points...

Great week-end to all ! ;o)
Chris
